My Largest Finish To Date !
So for the past few weeks I have been sharing with you the progress of my current project. The one that allowed me to overcome my fear of feathers ! Well it is now ALMOST finished. It still needs a binding, but other than that, she is done !
It was not until I started putting my quilted blocks together that I realized just HOW large this quilt was ! It finishes out at 90 x 105 ! That is HUGE ! It is by far the largest quilt I have done to date. I am extremely proud of myself on this one, not just because of the feathering ( though that alone is awesome to me ) but the very fact that I was able to complete this quilt on my Brother PQ-1500 is spectacular ! So here she is. I was unable to get pictures of it on MY bed ( two twin size beds shoved together ), since Hubs has been in it all day due to not feeling well, so I took pics on my grandmothers bed ( she has a full / double ), which is much smaller then ours ! So you will have to try and picture it ALL spread out until tomorrow ! This is the right half of side A ( right of the white strip ) . This quilt does not have a traditional ” front ” and ” back ” . The layout for this quilt allowed me to make it a Two-Fer. This means that I can flip it over and it looks ( almost ) the same on the back as it does the front ! This is the left side of side A. ( left of the white strip ). Left half of Side B ( left of the white strip ). This is the right half of Side B ( right of the white strip ) Close up of the white strip ! Feathers, Feathers EVERYWHERE ! I REALLY like feathers now ! Some more random shots taken in my sewing room tonight. There is NO place for me to spread this entirely out except the bed ! I REALLY love this quilt ! Really do ! |
Good work. I'd guess you are now totally over your fear of feathers.
That's one gigantic awesome quilt! You did a beautiful job
Very pretty quilt!
Wow!! That is awesome!!!
Whoa . That's huge and amazing. And more feathers than a family reunion of geese! LOL Congrats on overcoming your fear and --really--you did this on a Brother 1500? That boggles my mind.
Awesome quilt, wonderful feathers!
I love your quilting, and quilt! I have a Brother 1500, and I haven't had any of my quilting turn out remotely as nice as yours.
Do you have yours on a frame? Great job! K |

Fantastic quilt! Love that it is double-sided!
The quilting is awesome, wish I could do that! |
nice quilt..........

You have my sincere respect. It boggles the mind to imagine quilting a project that large on a DSM and it would be beyond me to accomplish what you did. Well done. Do you leave your sewing machine set up in the corner of your room during the quilting process, or do you pull it away from the wall? The logistics of maneuvering a quilt that large must have been a challenge.
Love your quilt, very colourful! Your quilting looks fantastic, well done on your feathers. Thanks for sharing.
very nice and nice quilting!!!
nicely done
Such a wonderful job!
You quilted this in sections, right? I've done that on my sewing machine, and it makes it much more manageable.

Everything about it is spectacular.

Big, beautiful quilt! And what a great job you did on the piecing and especially the quilting on a domestic machine! You have every right to be proud of your quilt and your feathers!
You did very well to quilt that size of quilt on your machine. I think it's a skill all it's own just to manage all of the quilt well on on a DSM. You nailed it! Love the quilt!

Great modern quilt - I like to do interesting backs, too. Two for the price of one :)

I do quilt each block BEFORE I join them together. The sashing strips between each block hold it all together. The hardest part is trying to make those joining strips STRAIGHT with the weight of all the quilted blocks. Being an Octopus would be helpful at that step !
All my blocks quilted before joining them The white strip was also quilted prior to joining it with the rest ! |
Great job!
That is one big beautiful quilt
Amazing. Love this!!!!

Congratulations, it turned out really pretty.

Great feathers. I need to overcome my fear

It is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats on finding a new fun way to quilt (feathers) and enjoying the process!! That's half the battle! I'd be proud, too!!
WOOWOO.... love your quilt and the quilting.

You did a great job...
It's a beautiful quilt. Nice being able to use both sides. I think one could surmise your fear of feathers is in the past. Beautiful quilting!
