I wanted to Show Off my 'Thread Stands' I've been making these for the 'Linus Project' we use them as Door prizes!
I get the old paper towel holders at a 'Goodie Store' and use the Wire from Fly swatters a little drilling, glue, paint, and Off to SEW!!! :)

What a creative idea, I love those!! I want one!!

Helen S 07-16-2012 09:08 AM

These are awesome! I haven't done any woodworking in a long time, but I really want to make a couple of these! They'd be much sturdier than the plastic ones the stores sell, much less likely to wobble, AND you can keep the colors you use most on a couple at the same time!

QUILTNMO 07-16-2012 09:23 AM

great idea!!!!

Diane007 07-16-2012 09:32 AM

Very clever and oh so cute.

lollygagging 07-16-2012 10:33 AM

Really clever idea. I'm currently using a tall glass to hold my spool and it seems to do just fine. I'll have to keep an eye out for one of those holders. Thanks for sharing.

Quilt Novice 07-16-2012 12:48 PM

Me, too! Those are about a zillion times cuter than my thread stand! What a great, creative idea!

noveltyjunkie 07-16-2012 02:33 PM

I feel left out because I never heard of a thread stand! How do you use it?!!

fxsts93kf 07-16-2012 03:09 PM

Wonderful idea! I have a friend that just started quilting and doesn't have a lot of money so this is a great idea I will pass along to her.

AshleyR 07-17-2012 02:32 AM

I need to get a paper towel holder!! I got a beautiful "hook" that I think is some kind of candle holder for $.50 but there's nothing to hold a cone! I have been using a jar, but I think the paper towel holder would be much nicer! Thanks for sharing!

catladyquilts 07-17-2012 03:06 AM

Well, aren't you clever?!!! What a great idea. I'm getting a new machine this week and was wondering if I afford to pick up another (Have 3 already) thread stand! Now I know how to do it! Thanks!
