so cool!!! On my list of "to do" quilts.

KGoodhand 02-09-2009 01:07 PM

That is beautiful!!!
I cannot believe my eyes! Is that all pieced together - each of them and then sewn together!?!? I don't know if I would have the patience to do a quilt like that but I absolutely love it!!!!
Where ever that quilt lives it will be amazing!!!

littlehud 02-09-2009 02:46 PM

OH. How pretty. Is it hard to do. I would love to do one of those.

Shemjo 02-09-2009 02:48 PM

Welcome to the board, Utah! Tell us more about yourself!
I LOVE your quilt!
I have made a couple Stack N Whacks from the Bethany Reynolds technique, and they are NOT that hard, but they are all beautiful. Have some new material to do another one. I love them. Just remember if you are doing one, cut length wise borders first!
This one is indeed stunning! Each one is so different and beautiful in its own way.
The four patch using the same technique is also beautiful!
Way to go!

butterflywing 02-09-2009 02:53 PM

Oh I love your OBW. Don't you just love making them? I've done two and I can't look at fabric anymore without checking the return. I bought the new book too. Want to learn how to do the tumbling blocks.

sandpat 02-10-2009 04:17 PM

FABULOUS!!! I love it! Someday I'll learn to do that

utahquiltlady 02-10-2009 06:41 PM

Yes the book was my inspiration. I have done several and I am always amazed how one fabric can create so much motion and beauty

utahquiltlady 02-10-2009 06:42 PM

Thank you so much I am very proud and amazed how quick this pattern goes together

utahquiltlady 02-10-2009 06:44 PM

about 4 yards of the focus fabric..... most my kaleidoscopes are made from Kona bay large prints

utahquiltlady 02-10-2009 06:46 PM

The fabric is one of Kona Bays Oriental prints

tlrnhi 02-10-2009 06:47 PM

Your quilt is gorgeous!

Is this pattern for a beginner, an intermediate,

or a super-duper quilter who knows exactly what they're doing?

hpylady 02-15-2009 05:55 PM

:) Oh! it's beautiful, I love the beautiful colors. I can't even begin to imagine how you do this. Thanks' for sharing.

kd124 02-17-2009 11:42 AM

Stunning! I saw the others you have posted and you do an amazing job.
Are the small squares 4patch stacked posie blocks?

Have you ever looked at one of these quilts through one of those door viewers-_to see who is at your door)? My sis used one to rearrange her one blk wonder. She had it arranged then looked through and decided to rearrange it. It shows what colors pops out.

calliope 02-18-2009 05:16 PM

Love the colors. Is this a current Kona Bay fabric? I don't see it among their current fabric lines. Do you have the name of the fabric?

grocifer 07-09-2009 08:14 AM

Utah Quilt Lady -- Have been agonizing over which fabric to buy since reading your post on Feb. 9th. I particularly liked the quilt picture labeled 218jpg. It had a lot of red and a gold inner border. Could you please advise me as to what would be a good print to make one as lovely? I have made several trips to the LQS armed with my mirrors to look at the Oriental Fabrics. I think what I'm really trying to say is, I'm terrible at picking out fabric. I bought the book (One Block Wonder) and yesterday ordered the OBW Encore so I could do the cube-- now all I have to do is buy the fabric and get up the nerve to try it on my own. Where's a class when you really need one? I suppose I could use two different fabrics if I feel like the first isn't working out.
PS At least this is keeping my mind occupied and off the terrible case of poison ivy I came down with this week. Thanks
PS2 I also just ordered the Quilter's Newsletter CD from Quilt Pro. That ought to give me a lot to think about........at this rate (at 75) I might have to come out of retirement to afford my hobbies.
