Those are both awesome! The winter scene is my favorite. That is very neat.

3incollege 04-02-2008 08:56 AM

I just love the winter scene. Was that a Micheal Miller panel? Did you cut the panel up ? I never saw anything like that.

annmarie 04-02-2008 08:59 AM

AWESOME

I'm curious too. do you just sew the window strips on top the whole panel or cut the panel in pieces & sash them??

Country Quilter 04-02-2008 09:01 AM

Love them both!! Great job!

campion 04-02-2008 09:32 AM

jbsstrawberry 04-02-2008 10:01 AM

Just too cool for words!

Oh Katherine...I'm sat here with a little tear in my eye....my Mum would have loved the poppy one!....I cant look and red poppies without thinking of her!
They are both wonderful...I cant decide which one I like the best!

Wow! Beautiful!!!

MAXIES2 04-02-2008 01:40 PM

Thank you for all your kind words, but I have to say they are so easy to do nothing like the hard work that goes into the many beautiful quilts that have been shown on the site.
For the winter scene I did cut the panel into squares then made it back into a picture using the attic window design. The poppy one I also cut into squares then just added the black sashing. I have a few more picture panels so will post them when I have completed them.
I have found the best place to buy them is a web site in the US as my source in the UK seems to be having difficulty getting them
www.quilternatives.com they are all Michael Miller, if anyone knows of another producer please let me know, if you look on the Michael Miller website you will be amazed at some of the patterns, however they would be rather expensive to make.

Have a go but beware you dont become addicted like me.

Regards Katherine

I love them all! I can't figure out how you do them, but they're really cool.

I like looking at those bright orange flowers and trees in the field. That's my favorite one.

The winter scene is really nice too.

Celeste 04-02-2008 02:40 PM

They're both beautiful and I was wondering about doing something like this. Thank you!

The poppy and and tree is my favorite, though I do love them both.

QuiltingTurtle 04-02-2008 03:01 PM

Oh my goodness those are stunning. What a wonderful idea.

Chele 04-02-2008 03:40 PM

Stunning! Your workmanship really shows on those. Just gorgeous! Make more!

annmarie 04-02-2008 07:09 PM

I just ordered 2 panels from the ebay site. They will make wonderful gifts. Thanks so much for sharing.

hannahsmom 04-02-2008 08:47 PM

Those are soo good!! Love 'em

tlrnhi 04-02-2008 09:09 PM

I REALLY like the first one.
Ok, I really should STOP looking at pictures.
I am getting TOO many ideas as to things to do.

Barb M 04-03-2008 02:04 AM

Wow, those are fantastic, sure giving me some ideas :)

DJ 04-03-2008 05:35 AM

These are just beautiful. I've always been intrigued with Attic Windows and hope to make one someday. I have a question . . . When you cut the scenic panel into squares, do you cut away a little extra for the part of the "window" where you wouldn't be able to see the scene? Is that clear? Don't know if it would really matter much. Seems like I'd be so afraid to cut!

Quilting Aggi 04-03-2008 06:01 AM

ooooooooh Maxie what an awesome idea!! I will have to think about trying one of those myself someday. I love them!

huckleberry 04-03-2008 06:14 AM

I am not familiar with Michael Miller but what you have done with the panels are fabulous! Your eye to get them lined up so accurately is amazing. They are both outstanding.
Will have a look at his web site to see more about him.
Blessings,
Carole

MAXIES2 04-03-2008 08:41 AM

DJ, I did wonder about that too but after chatting with Shadow I realised that I would be loosing a qtr inch each side for the seams so there is no need to, all I have done so far have turned out fine.
Thank you all for the compliments, and I hope that those of you who give it a go are delighted with the results, they do make impressive gifts, more so to people who do not quilt themselves as it has the rather baffled.

I love the winter scene and now hubby is TELLING me to make one!

MAXIES2 04-10-2008 03:27 AM

Ok, you are being evil too!
Hubby gets paid in a few days and we are getting a HUGE check because of all the backpay they owe us. I'm thinking FABRIC SHOPPING!!! :)

MAXIES2 04-10-2008 04:49 AM

Thanks Ruth, the material is very cheap, however the 108 ins material I liked was out of stock. I have e-mailed them to find out how much the postage would be to the UK.
When I saw the geisha girl panel I thought it would be ideal for a attic window panel, do have a go
Katherine

annmarie 04-10-2008 05:46 AM

OK you web surfers. Is there a site somewhere with free attic window directions? I'd appreciate it as my panels came & I'm raring to go!

They are both Michael Millers ordered from one of the sites someone listed here. I was surprised when they came as there were 2 panels of each on 1 hunk of fabric so I actually got 4 panels to do. Yippee
