Ok so I layed this out, was so excited to get this far this week, and then was sewing the second side and realized that I sewed the border and frame backwards. The seam ripper and I will be best friends this evening

LindaR 03-31-2010 05:16 AM

you lost me? looks good to me

pstoner 03-31-2010 05:18 AM

Yes that does, except I put the white next to the black square when I actually sewed it. The pic is correct, I did it incorrect. Do you think it would look ok if the border (white) is next to the black square, and the black is out?

CAROLJ 03-31-2010 05:19 AM

I like the quilt, and I don't see the problem.

I think it looks unified the way the picture is.

stitchinwitch 03-31-2010 05:45 AM

It looks good to me too!

GrannyW5 03-31-2010 05:48 AM

Wow, it is beautiful. I love it just the way it is. Good Job

dkabasketlady 03-31-2010 06:01 AM

It look fine to me, didn't you plan it that way?? Nobody knows, but you that it's not right! I call it quits and finish like it is. Beautiful quilt!

redquilter 03-31-2010 06:11 AM

I'm not sure what you mean, but I'll tell you this - I think it looks great the way it is.

Sunny Days 03-31-2010 06:15 AM

You did a great job...I hate having to rip the seams out !

marsye 03-31-2010 06:29 AM

I see no goof

BKinCO 03-31-2010 06:31 AM

Looks great to me :) You did a wonderful job!

rootyr 03-31-2010 06:39 AM

It looks great to me!

sandpat 03-31-2010 07:05 AM

I understand what you are talking about...but if you hadn't told us, I would have thought that you planned it the other way. Want to post a pic of a corner the way you sewed it on and then we can give better advice. I'm sure it looks good...but...you know we want to see :D

Ducky 03-31-2010 07:09 AM

I think it really looks great, but like Patti says, if you had a picture of just a portion of the other way, we might be able to tell more.

Mamagus 03-31-2010 07:10 AM

Take it apart girlie... Take it from one who "let it be" I HATE looking at that quilt cuz all I see is the mistake. There are times I think I'll fix it and there are times I hang the bad side on the side of the bed you can't see... but it still bugs me.

Fiber Artist 03-31-2010 07:22 AM

It looks like we all agree that your mistake is just perfect!!!

CraftsByRobin 03-31-2010 07:57 AM

I see what you are saying, however I love it the way it is, and would not have known that it was originally planned the other way had you not told explained it. I kept looking at it to see the "goof", but couldn't find it. I'd leave it as is if it were me ...

Yarn or Fabric 03-31-2010 04:33 PM

I like it the way it is - it's so gorgeous!!

sewnsewer2 03-31-2010 05:17 PM

WOW! That sure is pretty!

Gerbie 03-31-2010 07:41 PM

Beautiful quilt. Ha! it seems that more often than not my seam ripper and I have become more than best friends. We seem to be identical twins we are so close. lol.

watson's mom 03-31-2010 08:24 PM

Your quilt is gorgeous just like it is. Looks fine to me and I especially LIKE the borders.

ScubaK 03-31-2010 09:51 PM

Looks fine to me!

Quilt4u 04-01-2010 01:14 AM

Oh thank goodness. I looked and looked and didn't see a mistake. I thought I was loosing my mind. It's a great quilt. Beautiful color combo. Thanks for sharing.

n2scraplvr 04-02-2010 07:28 PM

Your mistake is a happy one! It looks better with the goof up rather than the original plan!! Be happy; it looks great as is!! :D :D

wvdek 04-02-2010 07:33 PM

Looks good to me.

Gerbie 04-02-2010 08:02 PM

pstoner,
Am I correct in what you did, where the pic. shows a white 2nd border (actually correct?) a black inner border as the 1st. Your 1st inner border is white and black would be your 2nd with red the 3rd. I may not be making myself clear, but that is what I understand you have done. When you look at the correct pic. you posted, the white design or shape, is in the center, then a red design is next and finally a black. I think any way would be fine, your choice, you could make the red the 2nd border with the black as the outer border, and you would be following the quilt color the way it is. Whatever you decide, the quilt is beautiful, just decide and enjoy it. You did a lovely job!!!

tslowery 04-02-2010 08:08 PM

I think it looks great...Awesome job

Katrine 04-02-2010 10:34 PM

sewsue 04-02-2010 10:38 PM

no1jan 04-03-2010 01:05 AM

I see nothing wrong with it. I like it the way it is.

TanyaMas 04-03-2010 01:12 AM

I think it looks gorgeous just the way it is :D
Ive noticed most quilter, myself included, are our biggest and usually our only critics, and most goofs are only really noticeable to ourselves (unless its a major 1).

Ok here is how it actually turned out (hubby liked it "backwards") so I left it. And I think I still like it, what do you all think?

Ready for backing

BEAUTIFUL!!!! Mistake..Naw...It's gorgeous.

Gerbie 04-03-2010 08:40 PM

I like it and now you can say it is really your own design so to speak, because you made changes from the original pattern.lol
Really it is truly a beautiful quilt and one to show off!! The white makes the red stars or whatever they are, in the border really pop.

Ada Shiela 04-18-2010 07:06 PM

Hello pstoner; I love your quilt and have spent ages comparing the two alternatives for your border and think You've chosen the right one - amazing how different the two border choices were - glad you're happy with it now - does it have a name?

craftybear 04-18-2010 07:17 PM

very pretty
