I just did a hoop sisters block of the month "Crazy Compass" and finished it today. It took all of last year, so I am really glad to have finished instead of having it on my UFO pile.
It was lots of fun, will be a gift for my daughter so I made it in colors I thought she'd like I used all fabrics from my stash except the back and border. There is even black velvet under some of the embroidery, and brown velvet. I start another hoop sisters BOM Thursday, and have one about 3/4 done (TNT) Since I love machine embroidery AND quilting, this is a great way to combine my 2 favorite hobbies. And it seems that I need a design wall!!! |

You do beautiful work. I am new at quilting. You applique by machine, you said. Do you use the stretch stitch?

Quilt really looks beautiful. Would like to see it closer up though and more light on it. Thanks

Actually, Hoop Sisters quilts are assembled in the embroidery hoop, on an embroidery machine. The block is assembled with an applique process (over batting which has stabilizer in it) and then all the embroidery and quilting is done in various stages. So, when you get done with the block, the backing is on, the quilting is done. After you get all the blocks done, you assemble them with the sashing strips. The process intrigues me because I have always wanted a way to quilt individual blocks to avoid struggling with the large quilt top under the head of my machine. Hope this explained it well. They have a website which may be more specific.

Very pretty colors. I want to do a hoop sisters..but will have to wait until I clear out my to do list first. =)

your color choices are interesting...
haven't seen this pattern before--really like the mauve colored strips between the blocks--seems like it is pressed against a window--pretty! |

That is absolutely beautiful! And what patience it must have taken. I just hope someday that I will be that good at my quilting. I do have to thank everyone on the quilting board though, without your help I would not have experimented with my machine and been able to finish with the fancy designs when completing the binding on my latest quilt.

Your quilt is beautiful.

I am working on one of these right now. I have the 4th block done. It has been difficult for me, especially those sharp points. Mine is in greens and browns. Yours is beautiful.

This is beautiful, I love how the star in the center just pops. Great job using your stash for this!

Fabulous!
