My Matisse Quilt
 

This was my first attempt at applique. Everything is hand done. Hand pieced, hand embroidered, hand appliqued, hand batiked, and hand quilted. I gave it to my 82-year-old mother, who can't sew a stitch. I think she likes it.

wondering what you mean by ' hand batiked' ? did you use a wax pot & dye/batik your own fabrics for it? or use plates? it is beautiful- just wondering what 'batik-ing process you used???

Your quilt is beautiful. I love the colors and the movement in it. You could almost think those are birds or angels.

Matisse practiced doves a lot. When finished with one, he'd say, "There's another dove for peace." Very nice quilt!
