I'm so excited to be quilting on the vintage class 66 machine. I did the piecing on the vintage class 15 treadle. These machines are so nice to work with. The electric is my bargain - $24.50 for the machine in the cabinet. And the top was made with a box of scrap squares I got for $5. And I still have a bunch left - probably enough to make two small lap quilts. I like that there is so much room to maneuver the quilt.

Very nice-I have a treadle here that I bought a couple of years ago in excellant condition and I haven't even sewn on it yet. But I love sewing with the featherweight 221.

I have several old sewing machines, a couple are Singer's. I have the one I learned to sew on as a child. I believe my mother got it when my oldest brother was a baby, which would have been around 1936. It needs a new motor. My son tried to fix it but the copper winding inside the motor is all melted. My mother used to run the vacuum over the cord, and other neat little things, the cord is a mess. But the machine looks a lot like yours. I also have a handcrank Singer in a beautiful wood case. According to the Singer site it is the first true portable sewing machine ever made. It works, but I haven't used it yet.

How beautiful...both the machine and the quilt. The cabinet is gorgeous. A treadle is definitely on my bucket list, but good ones are few and far between here. Even for a shabby, non-working example the price tags are way to high (around $500.00 +).

There's something about using an oldie but goody for making a quilt. I like the pattern you choose to use for your quilt. It matches your beautiful machine. I have a long standing WIP that I am making using up all my leftover triangles from other projects using my singer 128 handcrank. It's very soothing to sew with it.

iwas prety good at sewing on the hand crank singer [mum had one] the teacher caught me giving my mate a mini lesson "i am the teacher you are the student" she made me use the tredal for the rest of the year she knew i could not co -ordinate my hands +feet so would suddenly start going backwards HATED tredal machines since but love the look of them
