My new quilting tool

This is my new favorite tool for hand quilting. I have problems getting the hidden knots to work. My finger nails are too thin and break when trying to "pop" the thread under the fabric. This is a plastic pot scrubber, it works great as a thumbnail.

It might also help in removing threads after you did some ripping. Clever idea.

And I have exactly that brown one! Great tip. Thanks.

Even though my nails are generally strong enough, I just give the thread a (usually) gentle tug and the knot pops right into the fabric/batting. Sometimes the knots need a bit more persuasion but not enough to worry about. And any distortion disappears after washing/drying.

OH, you are so very clever!!!!!
I love using non quilting items for the "just the right tool" in the quilt room.

Great tip...and I have couple of those hanging around too.

For removing threads after you rip something out a pencil eraser works really well and is cheaper than the tool that cost around $8. Just rub it across the little thread pieces and the come right out...
