My new toy...

2 Attachment(s)
My Husqvarna Viking Ruby Deluxe decided to break down on me right before Christmas with lots of embroidery still to do. The mother board died. Only had it two years so this was quite a blow! Thankfully it was still under warranty so I took off for Jo Ann to taker her in. They were so kind to loan me another machine because it would take about 6 weeks to get the Ruby repaired. Well, I only kept the loaner for a few days because I decided to buy a new machine. Actually, my husband wanted to get it, I was shocked, because of the price. But Viking gave me a wonderful trade in for my machine and viola!! I love this thing. She's so big and beautiful. Runs like a dream. Even the automatic threading has been updated on this machine (trust me, it needed it). I love this! I have done tons of embroidery for my grand-girls for Christmas. They want EVERYTHING monogrammed. This machine made me happy AND my girls happy!

Now that's what I call "lemonade from lemons". You probably would not have "upgraded" any time soon (especially since your machine was only 2 yrs. old). So nice that your DH wanted to get this for you. I'm sure you are having a great time with your new machine.

Tothill 12-29-2015 10:31 AM

What a lovely gift especially with a husband who sees the joy you get from your quilting.

Wow that looks fantastic! I have been curious about the new Epic machines, so glad you are enjoying it.

Geri B 12-29-2015 02:21 PM

Congrats on the new machine. I was at the JAF to pick up a foot for my old Viking....and, of course, was told she would give me 5k for it if I purchased the epic.....my answer being...."hmmm, let's see that leaves a balance of 10k".....end of conversation! And off I went with my little foot in my purse!

grammysharon 12-29-2015 04:12 PM

I bought one of her sisters a week or so ago. Love her!!!! I surprised myself paying that much for a machine....but I think she will last me the rest of my years!!!

Oh, the new Epic - what a wonderful machine. My Viking SE died just before Christmas also - course it was 11 years old and only in for repair one time. On my way to the Viking store for repairs I stopped at Mulqueen's in Glendale. Walked out with a Brother Dreamweaver 6200. Love it! Will wait to get the SE repaired sometime this summer - hate to let it go.

It's a beautiful machine- hope it gives you years of service.

callen 01-01-2016 06:42 AM

I just got the Epic also just before Christmas & so far, I am loving it. It's big, more harp space & does beautiful embroidery & regular sewing is a joy. I don't know what you paid for yours in the U.S. but in Canada this thing runs about 1/2 the cost of a mid size car but it suits it's name, Epic, because that's what it is, for sure. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. I had the Diamond Royale & traded it in & was also given a good deal, so I'm very happy. Like you, my hubby was very impressed with the Epic so much that he bought it for me for Christmas & all the other special occasions that you can think of rolled into one !! LOL He truly supports my quilting hobby & knows what it's like to have good equipment to work on. A keeper, for sure.
