I was NOT supposed to be doing anything today but putting a binding on my neices crib quilt.... well...that is still collecting dust in the corner because my MIL sent this material and I knew right away what I wanted to do with it... mind you this is just cut out and up on my design wall right now but will probably start stitching it tomorrow! LOL

BarbC 07-13-2007 07:17 PM

That is really lovely! Can you post a picture of some of the fabric that isn't cut up? I would love to see how you created that. Barb C

Nice "true blue" heart Patsy! What a great MIL you must have!
I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished product....

Well, stuck a piece of it on the wall next to it so you could see....I cut it in 2 1/2 inch strips and then 2 1/2 inch squares and then I filtered thru them and picked out what worked where! LOL Hope this is what you wanted to see and know about!

I think it is great....hurry up and piece it together...for us and for your nieces sake!

vicki reno 07-14-2007 04:02 AM

Thanks for both pictures. I had never seen the fabric in such a project before it was cut. That gives me some idea of what to look for. Thanks!
Can't wait till you get done! Really pretty.

Moonpi 07-14-2007 04:47 AM

Very sweet, Blue and white always reminds me of old china. I have that pattern book, too, and never came across any fabric that would work. You chose a winner!

BarbC 07-14-2007 11:07 AM

Thanks so much for posting the fabric... that really helps me see how you created the heart. I love it! Would have never thought to do that! Barb C.

ccbear66 07-14-2007 01:03 PM

Very pretty......can't wait to see it finished. Thanks for sharing.

ceannastahr 07-14-2007 08:29 PM

Very very wonderful.

Knot Sew 07-15-2007 07:40 AM

Question...........Did you use a white fabric also and what is the size on this?.......I have some pink I could use. :D

Country Quilter 07-15-2007 07:54 AM

Yes, the plain white squares are also 2 1/2 inch squares... when I did this before I considered not cutting the white but thought it would look more uniform if I did and then just sew it back together...I'm sure it could be done either way tho.

sewmuch 07-15-2007 08:03 AM

Oh Patsy, what a wonderful quilt that will be. I am glad you showed it all as I have never done or seen that before. I'll take it when done

quiltmaker101 07-17-2007 10:50 AM

I have never seen that done before. It is sooo clever! Puts a whole new spin on looking at my stash for future projects.

I could even make a chili pepper wreath with the fabric I don't know what do with!

sewmuch 07-17-2007 11:12 AM

The chile pepper wreath would be great, as I love peppers, material, hanging, etc.

ilena 07-17-2007 11:14 AM

Beautiful and very inspirational!!!

sdeaaz 07-21-2007 04:25 PM

did you fussy cut all of those squares or just strip cut and the place as needed , light or darK? Quilter 1234

quiltgrl 07-30-2007 06:45 AM

I love that!! How big are your squares?

Country Quilter 07-30-2007 06:57 AM

I just strip cut the material in 2 1/2 inch strips, then into 2 1/2 inch squares and placed them where I thought they looked good. If I thought an area needed something in particular then I did fussy cut a few squares if I couldn't find one already cut but for the most part I didn't need to do that.

Thanks for the nice compliments!

quiltgrl 07-30-2007 07:09 AM

I love the fabric you used, it works perfect!!

Patsy,
I would love to see a pic of the finished project. I've never done a watercolor, but I often think about trying one.

mypatookis 02-25-2011 03:35 PM

Patsy,
Just found the picture of your quilt and absolutely love it! Could you please tell me how much fabric of that blue you used? Also, is your finished size 26x26? Your squares would be 2x2 when finished, right? Did you end up putting a border on? Thanks for your help.
Sue
