Hi Quilt Friends:
This is my most recent project...the Bug Jar Quilt was such fun to make and went together in a hurry. I have a new grand neice/nephew coming and will give the quilt to the grand if it's a boy. I have another "girly" quilt ready if the baby is a girl. The Bug Jar Quilt pattern is on the McCall's website where we found the Oct. 15 BOM.

Happy quilting!

Had you already collected the "bug" prints? Your quilts are really pretty.

jbsstrawberry 10-20-2007 05:35 PM

Soo very cute!!! You did a great job, and I bet a little girl would love it just as much!!

Feathers 10-21-2007 07:50 AM

Hi Moreland:
I've been collecting the bug prints for about 2 years...always checking out the remnant tables to get the fabric bugs I wanted. I want to do one with food items in it...peppers, tomatoes, etc. as I want to decorate for our State/County Fair open competition building next summer. Now I'm looking for food fabrics that will look like canned goods for wall hangings.

Thanks to all for the nice compliments
Feathers

Joyful:
I got lucky, I went to one place and they had a bizillion bug fabrics so I bought a bit of each then when I went to my quilt group I took my bugs to show my friends and several had little pieces of bug fabric left over from other projects so they contributed a block or two. It is a fun quilt, very, very easy and quick to make and I think it's darling.

:) Great job! I saw this pattern on About.com too. As for veggie prints,I just saw some on KeepsakeQuilting.com and there is a Farmer's Market collection by one of the fabric companies but can't remember which one. I made a tablecloth out of it for my mother in law who has a small farm. She loved it. Thanks for sharing your wonderful work.

Very cool looking quilt, Feathers! Can I steal the food fabric idea? I think that would be awesome!

Up North 05-22-2008 01:29 PM

Feathers, My mom just was to a quilt shop close out sale, (I missed it) bought some fabric with cucumbers, squash, corn, type fabrics also one with pumpkins, apples, peppers, type stuff on it they were selling all fabric for $1.00 a yard. Thes sale will also be next thursday and she said they had some left. If you are intersted I would need to know how much of (if any) you would be intersted in. I thought of you as soon as she showed it to me!! Let me know!!

Feathers 05-22-2008 07:40 PM

Roben...no need to steal the idea. It's not my original thought, I found it on the net and the pattern on the net is free. Go for it and make sure if you make it that you post pictures.

DonnaRae 05-23-2008 05:17 AM

Lorretta, She is making a jar quilt now with fruit. But she is using things you would not think would go in a jar, like bananas, and all all types of things. So you could do the same thing. Thread, scissors, needles, frabric, and more. If I think of more I will let you know. I think that would be a cute one. Do it. Make sure we get a picture. :D

DonnaRae 05-23-2008 05:18 AM

bobbins, chalk, and if you can't find the fabric do applique. Neato.

DonnaRae 05-23-2008 05:27 AM

Well I guess we will have to put the word out and start looking. If you really want to do one do like Sandy did and put in classified for fabric. I sent her what I had for fruit. I will look but I don't think I have any sewing fabric. But others may. You would be suprised what might come up. I think it would be and awesome quilt. :D

DonnaRae 05-23-2008 05:29 AM

Terrible english and spelling. :( I meant post in classified what you are looking for and will pay. You won't need a lot for each jar. I would send you for free if I had any. I will still look and if I see any when I am out I will pick up, if you want. I hope the spelling is better this time. :D

I just had to edit again. I think my brain is thinking backwards today.

DonnaRae 05-23-2008 06:05 AM

I saw a jar sewing quilt on line somewhere. (I think is was a jar, I could be wrong). If I remember I will let you know. Hey you could always make it different and do a couple of jars and then a machine or something. Just thinking off the top of my head. LOL, and that is not working very well this AM.

DonnaRae 05-23-2008 06:24 AM

Oh yes! That would be awesome. Machine embroidery?
