While waiting for the fabric to come in to finish my Warm Wishes quilt I have started another quilt that I have been wanting to do for some time. It is very simply but is gonna be all about Louisiana. This is just the first row, but was wanting opinions before going any further. Each row will be 5 blocks across alternating with the green and gold border and then a black sash.

Can't wait to see if you find crawdad fabric! You could make your own with a wooden stamp. Your idea gives me inspiration.

I spent a year in Minot North Dakota many years back, a southern girl's first time to see snow.
LOVE the summers there, the winters-----well not so much. :-(

OH YEAH.....There is gonna be crawfish in there. Would not be a Louisiana Quilt without it. Now if I can only find fabric with Pelicans........

QuiltnNan 04-11-2011 10:34 AM

I'd say that's a wonderful start and you definitely should continue.

Ok I wanted to go back into this post to edit topic but I do not see anywhere to be able to do that like I used to. Anyway I worked all day on the blocks, made one minor adjustment of 4 across instead of 5 and made it 6 down. All I need to do is add the sashing and border it.

Tallulah 04-11-2011 02:59 PM

Love it!

mrsj82 04-11-2011 03:11 PM

Don't forget to incorporate some purple in it too to make it the three colors that say Louisiana! Very pretty so far. Make sure to post the finished quilt.

Yooper32 04-12-2011 04:18 AM

You have got me going. I have already ordered some fabric. Hopefully mine will be as beautiful as yours.

libbiebean 04-12-2011 08:20 AM

Hey CajunQuilter - I hope to see a block for the cotton. I grew up in the cotton fields of North Louisiana, so that is what I associate as representing my ole home state.

Wow thanks for the great idea. I will have to go on a hunting mission. Would love to find some fabric with sugar cane as well but I would imagine that is an impossibilty
