My "office" turned "sewing room"

This very small room started out as my work at home office...then became my craft room, and well, it still is...but my new craftyness has been focused on sewing and quilting, so now...it's my sewing room. It is just off of the kitchen...weird, I know....but my house was built in 1900 and is pretty darn quirky. I'm thinking maybe it was used as a dining room as some point, but my kitchen is big enough that we have our table in the kitchen.

But, anyhooo, here's my space:

There are still "office" things and some of my books (I'm an avid reader though most of my books are in the attic or on my three e-readers) in there mixed in with all my shtuff...and yes, those are car parts under my desk. lol We do not have a garage. :(

Very nice use of the space....this might get more viewings if posted in Mission Organization......

Good for you!! It looks great. I love the green painted wall color.

oksewglad 05-16-2013 06:14 AM

Everything at your work stations are just "a twirl away" from your chair:thumbup:

linda faye 05-16-2013 06:31 AM

I like the fact that is so close to the kitchen.

craftiladi 05-16-2013 06:37 AM

Lovely space, I don't find anything weird about being right off the kitchen-unless you do alot of fried food cooking, great job!

#1piecemaker 05-16-2013 06:39 AM

You are more organized than I am!!

watson's mom 05-16-2013 07:39 AM

This is really neat, you have your own space yet you are not cut off from the rest of the house thanks to the large open space in the wall. Love it!! Thank you for sharing.

wolph33 05-16-2013 07:48 AM

A nice centrally located work space.

I like your office/sewing room. Love the trogan dolls. Lost mines in Hurricane Katrina.

Where ever you can make your space is perfect. Your space is noticeably filled with love. Couldn't be better.
peace

So great to have a specified space!

Cyn 05-16-2013 04:46 PM

Nice! Love the 46 too :)

craftynell 05-16-2013 04:54 PM

Lucky you.

mrsbudryzer 05-17-2013 02:36 AM

:) Thank you all!!! I left myself space to grow since I don't really have much of a fabric stash...yet! :)

I just got another sewing machine...one I inherited from my husband's grandmother, so now I have a sewing machine on both tables!! I also bought a bulletin board to pin stuff up on...just gotta put it up now!

It's actually a 47 ;) My husband was a pilot. Home safe, sound, and retired now.

gabeway 05-17-2013 04:07 AM

Looks great.

Material Witness 05-17-2013 04:58 PM

I'd like to have a helicopter in my sewing room. And you are conveniently close to the coffee.

twinkie 05-18-2013 03:29 AM

It is great when you have something in the oven, you can do some sewing and still stay close to your cooking project.

southernmema 05-18-2013 03:30 AM

Love your space....very cozy looking...I like cozy!

I like it with that window into the kitchen. You don't feel so cut off from everyone else and it seems like it would much easier to multi-task.

cpcarolyn 05-18-2013 05:41 AM

Very nice.

Great that you have a space that is close to your kitchen! Love it!!

Karen G 05-18-2013 06:21 AM

Love your little clothesline!

lue 05-18-2013 06:24 AM

I too just combined my office with my quilting space. Still organizing but it's neat. I LOVE the color on your wall!! Good job!

Mariposa 05-18-2013 06:30 AM

Neat sewing space! Fun to be able to do your crafts, and still be so close to main part of home~~

gramquilter2 05-18-2013 07:00 AM

Your space looks great and it looks like you are very productive in your sewing/quilting area.

tessagin 05-18-2013 07:23 AM

As long as it works for you, that's all that matters. I moved my DH car parts up to the attic. We also cleaned out a closet so he could have some there. I insisted nothing with grease or oil unless it was in some kind of leak-proof container. We don't have a garage either.

bibi 05-18-2013 08:47 AM

I applaud your resourceful ways to utilize the space and create a very lovely and functional sewing room.

caspharm 05-18-2013 09:21 AM

It looks great. What does the quilt look like (is it a memory quilt for your hubby?)

QUILTNMO 05-18-2013 09:27 AM

looks great!!!

MargeD 05-18-2013 10:47 AM

Thanks for sharing your craft/sewing room - love the helicopter too.

terri bb 05-18-2013 10:51 AM

hey I like that! I also like the location of it; you can smell dinner if it starts to burn!! love your place!

solstice3 05-18-2013 11:19 AM

Sewing room with car parts...too funny. Enjoy your room!

fred singer 05-18-2013 11:28 AM

nicely done

GABBYABBY 05-18-2013 12:32 PM

I think your sewing room is really nice and being next to the kitchen is real handy when you want a snack.

Pam H 05-18-2013 06:15 PM

I like your sewing room. I think your green is the same color as my sewing room. Can I ask why your sewing machine is not down in the cabinet? I dream of having my machine level with my table.

maryellen2u 05-18-2013 08:45 PM

I think it is just perfect. I love all the personal touches, stencils on the wall, clothes line of art treasures, family pictures and car parts for inspiration! :D
