My One Block Quilt

2 Attachment(s)
This is one of my very favorite blocks, so I suggested to a blogger an idea for a pattern, and she made up the measurements for a pattern. She asked me to test it, and here are the results. The pattern should be for sale by the end of March on Craftsy. This was fun to piece, and very easy. The fabric is Morris Modernized. It measures 68 by 68. I love how it turned out. I quilted it using a panto, renting a long arm machine at a LQS.

It is very pretty! I just used that same block as a center medallion. It will be surrounded by other smaller blocks.

What was the name of the Pantograph?
I really like that one.
Thanks,
Janie

Great quilt....i have MANY times - when i need a quilt relatively quickly - done a one block. I try to pick one that's sort of complex - but it's a great time saver...and they work out so well...Here are 2 i did last year for my nephew and his bride.

I love your Carpenter's Star, it's next on my list!

How do you come up with the measurements? I would like to be able to do this with other blocks.

Twisted Quilter 03-04-2014 06:41 AM

Love the one block quilts! Can we get pattern measurements, I would love to try this today.

Thanks

OOPS, just saw that pattern was for sale.

Janie, I can't remember the name, something like swirling leaves. I will check the next time I go there. They should have it on my record. I want to use it again, too.

One thing I noticed, is they pulled the tension tighter on the quilt, and it made the quilting puffier. I very much like that effect.

Very pretty!!

divide the sections of the block, 16" looks to be the size of the corners x 4=64"

I love big block quilts and yours is awesome with that exceptional quilting.

daisydebby 03-04-2014 04:07 PM

Everything about it looks great:) Really find the big single block interesting.

ChrisDee 03-04-2014 04:11 PM

All four of the quilts are beautiful. I'm a relative newbie and mostly self taught. What's a pantograph?

KerryA 03-04-2014 04:39 PM

Love the finished product!

It just depends on the final size i'm looking for and the number of squares to make the block. In the case of these 2, i chose 5" finished squares - that gave me 40" block, plus borders to make them a decent lap size.

Tweety2911 03-04-2014 06:51 PM

Lovely quilt and quilting!

vondae 03-04-2014 08:24 PM

This is my kind of quilt--EASY. It's beautiful. From the colors, to the pattern, to the quilting, it's all beautiful. I hope you will let us know via the resource page, IF that's allowed, when the pattern comes out.

Grandma Peg 03-04-2014 08:47 PM

Pretty quilt! Love the pattern, and fun quilting!

pw6 03-06-2014 07:11 AM

If you double the size for the single block it will be bed size... I do it all the time.. as your wall hangings are really great..
