Dealing with a family member's health issues is so tough. I'm sure your beautiful quilting has helped you keep your sanity.

This is one of my favorite quilts. I have made one for my DIL, one for my DD and one
for me, all in scrappy mode!

Bren 07-29-2014 04:52 AM

That is beautiful! I am praying for you and your husband. So glad this Board provides respite from your worries. Hang in there, my dear.

Beautiful quilt !

Nanoo 07-29-2014 07:48 AM

Your quilt is beautiful. I am so glad that you "kept at it." I, too, am from Arkansas. As soon as I have read the newspaper from cover to cover each morning, I pick up the lap top to check on what is new on the quilting board. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. You know what they say about fractured ribs--it only hurts when you breathe.

Quilter 65 07-29-2014 08:00 AM

Beautiful, no matter which way it is turned. Sorry for the health issues. My, sometimes it just pours.

Yooper32 07-29-2014 08:30 AM

A BIG congratulations to you, it is beautiful and it is admirable. I started about three yrs. ago. I am almost to the bridge on the first panel. I don't know if I gave up or was it the arthritic fingers that gave up, but I know now that mine will never be finished, at least by my hands.

carolynjo 07-29-2014 08:46 AM

So sorry to hear of your family's health issues. We, too, had our issues last summer: my back surgery in June; hub's emergency 5-bypass surgery in July; my 3 bypass/valve replacement in Aug and son's stent in Aug. Thankfully, we have recovered except for some back issues. Hope your husband's health continues to improve. Remember: take care of yourself while you both "recover". Will keep you in my prayers.e

pkelly1947 07-29-2014 09:43 AM

Lucky granddaughter. A treasure for sure.

Oh my, carolynjo....your 2013 sounds even worse. You know the old saying, "Just look around, you can always find someone worse off than you are." I can't imagine both of you being down with all these surgeries. But, I find that I can't take care of myself, for 24/7- taking care of him. At 79, he's not in very good shape, and I have to take every step he takes, for fear of his getting dizzy and falling AGAIN! I can feel myself breaking down mentally and physically, but with no family....what does one do? Thank you for your prayers from everyone on here~

matraina 07-29-2014 10:04 AM

I sure hope your husband recovers well from everything. Your quilt is absolutely beautiful!

quilter68 07-29-2014 10:25 AM

I was intrigued with your quilt and the embroidery. So I stood on my head and loved this quilt. It is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for posting. Good health wishes to your Hubby. My heart went out of whack last year but not that much. Surgery with a new cow valve fixed it. Again, I wish you energy and your hubby to get well.

Actually Thanks to the cow valve;....I am now 73!

Carol34446 07-29-2014 04:29 PM

So very sorry for your husbands poor health. A year ago Jan my DH had chemo for rectal CA. Couldn't have radiation do to radiation for prostate CA 10-12 years ago and our gastroenterologist (we have know almost 20 years) said no way to surgery (DH was 80 at the time) and so every three months he has a sigmoidoscopy and every 6 a CT to look for CA. He had vocal cord CA in 1998-99 and has had skin CA. removed 4 times. Thank heavens he has a strong heart and is still going strong, but it can wear a person down. You take care of your self, he needs you strong to look after him.

Laine 07-29-2014 04:57 PM

I have never seen this quilt done in black. It does look amazing. All your hard work really paid off. I have done this quilt too. It took me 2 yrs also. Mine is done in browns and tans. Love doing Crabapple Hill patterns.

I was able to get correctly positioned pictures after the first reply/post to posting. You might want to go back and look again without standing on your head. You made my day!!! :)

amazing work..............Gods speed in your husbands recovery.

MargeD 07-29-2014 06:06 PM

God bless you and I send prayers for DH's recovery. That's a lot to go through in such a short amount of time, however, I'm thinking that this quilt may have helped you deal with the stress. I've often found that when times get tough, the tough go quilting and become mellow with the healing property of quilting.

ccthomas 07-29-2014 06:52 PM

Beautiful work.

milikaa1 07-29-2014 06:56 PM
