The designer has put two patterns in each package, one for beginners and one for intermediate. Only difference is the beginner pattern has less pieces. If you like puzzles you will enjoy these patterns. The one I did is for intermediate. I am just using scraps of batiks.

I'm so impressed! I have had these patterns for years and haven't done anything with them. Have plenty of on-going hand applique projects and dread doing the machine stitching on a fusible project. Your pics have inspired me to take the patterns out and reconsider.

You should go sell those in Key West, Fl! They have chickens everywhere there, in the streets, outdoor cafes,yards.....all wandering free! Sometimes even sitting in the trees above your table!

Raw edge applique is cutting out pieces and using an iron on glue such as heat and bond or steam a seam lite, or in my case is used Misty Fuse which is extremely lite and doesn't get stiff. Someone asked what thread painting is? here is a picture of another project that shows some thread painting. Basicly it's doing alot of thread work to enhance the picture or block, sometimes using decorative thread.

Your chickens look so awesome...love the way applique looks but want nothing to do with "doing it" myself...these are really nice!!
your work is beautiful. when you use the raw edge is it more for decorative or does it withstand the washing on a quilt? I am so glad you showed pictures of your thread painting. It is beautiful and so interesting in a picture. Now I want to try it!
real pretty
love `em
Beautiful work! Can't wait to see more!
Gorgeous!
How fun I love chickens. Love both the blocks, I look forward to seeing the finished project.
What is the pattern and how can I order it?
SSS Thank you so much for the thread pictures. If you do this with metallic thread what do you use in your bobbin. Also do you use a metallic needle? I am so inspired to do this by your photos. I used raw edge applique(didn't know that is what it was called) in my daughters memory quilt because the dancing silhoutte was too intricate to turn under. Just secured it with machine quilting!

Gotta love those chickens.
Those are sure handsome roosters!! No hen in the henhouse could resist them!
I am crazy for chickens, thanks!
great Fun!
They are great!
They are so adorable. My mother loved chickens.
I love all three of your chickens. Thanks for showing the pictures, because I have been looking at some kits and was wondering how they were done & now I can understand a little better.
I keep hemming and hawing over them. They bring back good memories of my mom & our kitchen when I was little girl. "Sew" eventually I will have to take the plunge. I can't wait to see the whole project put together! |
They are beautiful :-)
