My pumpkins pincushion

1 Attachment(s)
Fall is in the air...and now in my sewing room, too! I actually made this last year and just found it in time to enjoy for the fall season. I remember sewing a button on one end and wrapping the embroidery floss around the button to form the sides of the pumpkin. After making the sides, the thread went up the middle to the top of the pumpkin and knotted. The ribbon was added last.

Your Pumpkins is so cute, that I went looking for a tutorial to make one. (i'm not talented enough to make it with instructions) and this is what I found.

Thank you! I stuffed it with poly-fluff that comes in a bag at the craft stores.

Hi Vondae,
I think the link you found is the one I used to make my pincushion....only I have the button on top of the pumpkin because the other side didn't look as good! So happy you found the link!

twinkie 10-26-2015 02:35 AM

QuiltnNan 10-26-2015 03:24 AM

quilterpurpledog 10-26-2015 03:30 AM

I think your pumpkin is clever. The ribbon tendrils look like grograin ribbon that is curled-if so how did you do that?

I remember making that ribbon curl, a hundred years ago. In high school, we would wind ribbon around pencils and starch it til it dripped LOL. Made them to wear in our hair for prom!! Thanks for the memory!! Love the pumpkin!!
