I'm sure my great grandmother who died 10 years before I was born would have looked just like this. She did pass on the quilting gene to me...such a shame that it had to skip two generations. My mother and grandmother were crocheters..not quilters so I had to start from scratch.

What a nice image for your sewing room. The family connection makes it special too.

I have her sister, a sewing helper, picture in my sewing room. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, my!! This could have been my grandma. Her quilting frame was suspended from the kitchen ceiling on cords, and hoisted up when the table was being used. After meals the table was cleared, the frame let down and quilting took place. Great memories. This is a beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing.

GrandmaLola 04-29-2011 04:47 PM

Not positive... but I think that IS my Grandmother!

Can you take a guess at the signature? I'd love to see if there are prints available or at least check out other works by the artist.

Thanks, thanks!

Wonderful! A great connection with your mother and grandmother. You're so lucky this was passed down to you. :D

Nice to have another inspiration. She is a wonder.

Karen K. 05-02-2011 08:16 AM

You are the lucky one.

betlinsmom 05-06-2011 12:10 PM

Wonderful!! Does she have relatives I can purchase?!!

chairjogger 05-06-2011 09:59 PM

This was purchased in the 1980's in a Berea Kentucky. I just don't know about any relatives. I have named her though.

Grace. Not Gracy but Grace. Those glasses puts a very business like quality to her.

She is my guilt buddy, companion.
Thank you all for commenting !

What a neat pic. Reminds me of watching the older ladies at church, including my grandmother, quilt.
