Some pictures of my some what still new to me Quilt studio. We moved from a mobile home to a new house 1 1/2 years ago and I got the awesome bonus room for a studio. My husband made it a special place for me. Many of the items have their own story. Like one of the sewing boxes is from my mother, an old bible from my grand parents and the couch from a dear friend. They all passed away but their items have a special place up there with me. One of the things I strugle with are lack of display wall and that the storage is all under the roof part behind the little doors. As my body begins to get older I am strugling with laying the quilt out on the floor and bending or crawling into the storage areas. I welcome any creative suggestions.

That is an absolutely wonderful room! You asked for suggestions for a display wall, is that a design wall or a place to display finished quilts? For a design wall, how about a board that leans on a perpendicular board attached to it -- like a picture frame that sits on a table?
For the storage under the eves, maybe there is a way to put tubs or shelves on wheels to easily move them in and out? |
Oh wow, that is the most amazing space!

First, you have all kinds of display space --I can see those sloped ceilings alive with special quilts and wall hangings! Maybe get a folding screen that you can use as a design wall while you are creating! As for the tucked out of site and away from access storage area --maybe open that up and use layered storage like the museums do --pull out huge shallow drawers that you can then access your stuff from. Just a thought. |
Thanks for the ideas! I can visualize the pull out storage but not the display wall. I think the pieces of fabric would fall off the ceiling. I know I eyeballed all that flat surface above me too.
