My Quilting Things
3 Attachment(s)
I have been sitting back and enjoying all the pics, tips and topics on the QB so now it is time for me to start being more active and show some of my own quilting projects. I have been quilting for over 21 yrs but in the past 6 years, because of the illness and the subsequent passing of my husband of 43 years, my quilting had to be set aside to be a caregiver to him. Now I find it has not been easy to get back into it but I am really trying. So here is a few of my quilts.
I hope you all like them. This is my very 1st quilt and it was paper pieced and hand quilted. Made in 1991 from scraps before I knew much about fabrics and quilting. It fits my queen sized bed. Thanks for looking Pat |
They are just lovely. So sorry to hear about your husband. Take care of yourself and ease back into quilting as slowly as you need to.

Your quilts are all very nice. I am so sorry about the passing of your husband. I lost my mother in March of this year, and it's not easy. I have been looking all day on the internet for pics on the trip around the world quilt design, and here you have one. I also wanted to do one with floral fabrics added in, and here you have that too. Thank you for sharing these with us. I feel more inspired now.

Love the hearts, but your floral trip is absolutely stunning! Take your time and ease back into everything at your own pace. You are your best judge. We are all with you though.

Your quilts are beautiful.

Sorry to hear your story of caregiver and loss of your DH. Have you made a memory quilt from his shirts. I have seen some beautiful ones posted on the board and most of all making one allows you to work thru your grief as you sew. When it's finished you have your own warm hug quilt.

Wow, I'm impressed with what you did for a first quilt! It's beautiful. And the color-wash Trip Around the World is just gorgeous! I'm sad to hear of you losing your husband. My husband and I just celebrated our 41st anniversary, so I know it would be very difficult to be without him, especially after seeing him ill for such a long time. My condolences.
|
Hard times. I hope there are friends and family to comfort you and that again creating beauty from fabric will be a blessing.
|

You do beautiful work! My sympathy on the passing of your husband.
|
Sorry for the loss of your husband. The heart quilt is lovely. You might do a small project to get back in the quilting 'mood'. Is there a local quilt store you could browse? Give yourself time to heal.
|
Thank. You for sharing with us.
|
I love your quilts! Sorry to hear that you have had so much drama going on in your life. Keep quilting, that is what I do. It keeps me living in the present and I have a great feeling of accomplishment when I am done. You have talent, keep it going.

Sorry the hear of your loss. Quilting can be great therapy.
|
Yes, just ease back into quilting as you are able. Grief often takes a long time to overcome, especially when you were so involved in your DH's care for such a long time. Just work a little bit each day and you will make great progress. You might reach out to some friends to come quilt with you and that would help motivate you to create as well.

What wonderful quilts! When my husband was ill and in the hospital for 6-1/2 months at our local VA Hospital my quilting helped me from going crazy. You will get back into it just start with something small and go from there. The quilt that I worked on while he was in the hospital was published in the Quilters Newsletter this year it is in the latest July/August issue on page 85. Hope you get back to quilting soon!!
|
So sorry to hear of your loss. Your quilts are just beautiful. Maybe the quilting will be a comfort to you in this sad time. Perhaps you could make a quilt using your husband's shirts or ties??
|
So sorry about your dear husband. Regardless of the circumstances, it is never easy to lose a cherished companion. I think you will find quilting very therapeutic. When you are ready, reach out to other quilters too. The quiltingboard is great for that, but nothing beats an old fashioned sewing bee. There is nothing like sharing your progress with friends. Your quilts are beautiful and I know you will have many more to show us in the future. Just take it at your own pace.

Lovely.
I started quilting to keep me busy while caregiving my DMIL. She needed more and more help as she reached the ripe old age of 95. I had her do a lot of ironing and folding to keep her busy too. We shared a lot of time together in the sewing room. I keep on sewing in part for her and when I come across a fabric I know she handled I get a smile from her. It is wonderful to have the memories and the future to look to. Sorry for rambling on. Keep up the good work you do now and the happiness it brings to you and those around you. peace |
Absolutly love your Trip around the world!!!!
|
They are all lovely! I'm glad you got back into your hobby.
|
