I have never worried about them fraying past the stitching line. I've washed the blue & yellow one several time and it isn't there yet. the homespun in it is nearer to the seam line than the cotton (floral). If you are worried about it, you could sew all around the edge of you block sandwich a little outside of the 1/2 in seam allowance, that would probably take care of the fraying into the seam. Or cut pieces bigger and take a bigger seam allowance.
Seem like I remember the pattern I bought for the first on it was to have 1 in seams.........I don't like that much fuzzies.

I have a lot of corduroy ... leftovers from my garment sewing days and I have a lot of denim (old jeans). I've never made a rag quilt. Would/could you integrate these types of fabric in one quilt successfully?
If you have the machine to stitch through that many thicknesses, then I don't know why not. I don't think I would use double layers of either one. I would back it with something else and maybe use flannel as the batting.

I have mixed these fabrics successfully on several occasions. The thickness would be the only issue. I have an old Bernina 830 and it could handle the bulk. Maxine

It is very cozy, just had a nap under it.
The pink and green is combination of cotton & flannel. The yellow and blue is conbination of cotton and homespun.

I also want to try a rag quilt I want to use old jeans maby if I stayed off the computer I could get more done!!! well I get a lot of inspiration here,so I can't stay off this site
