I finally made me a raggy quilt. It is made from blocks I had left over when I made my grandson's girlfriend a quilt a couple years ago....I didn't take the time to figures out how much fabric to buy when I was out shopping. I'm glad I bought so much otherwise I probably never would of made one for myself.
It sure is warm! mr raggy quilt |
I really like the way you finished the edge... super cute!
|
Whoo hoo! I like it when we mis calculate our fabric like that. Great job!
|
I love your colors ! Great Job  I have never seen a rag with the edges the way you did them.... hhhhmmm may have to try it that way

I did this on the diagonal to stretch the size a bit since I didn't have that many squares. I really needed a couple more rows on it for my queen bed. I've been using it anyway these cold night, but underneath another quilt..that works.

Beautiful quilt!!

cute quilt!

That is very pretty. Some years ago I made a baby raggy quilt. After I did all the snipping and washing it looked used so I was reticent to give it as a gift.
I really like the colors of yours. SC |

That is a beautiful quilt! I haven't ventured into rag territory yet, but you may have just given me the inspiration to do so :)
|
Really pretty and I like it on the diagonal with the edges that way
|
I really need to get off this computer and go and make a rag quilt. I've seen many on this forum and love them. Are they as easy as they say they are? Love your colours.
|
Outstanding!!!! Are those all flannels? Did you have "peels" the little fuzzies all over after washing it and if so how did you remove them?
|
Setting on point ~ what a great idea! I have made several but going to have to do another like this!!

When I made Jennies quilt I matched fabric backs to fronts, in this one, I had lots of some fabrics and not many of others, so make this one with flannel on one side and cotton/homespun on the others, with no restriction which were on the raggy side. |

Here is one I did with a trip around the world design in it. I used the left over scraps from this quilt to make valances. yellow & blue raggy in guest BR |
Very nice.

I love making rag quilts! Did you know that you can also use chenille, cordyroy and denim in rag quilts? I've used all of these in combination with flannel & they fray nicely. Maxine

How big were your "seams" and how far a part did you cut to "fray" the edges? Yours is just sew cute. Also, sorry i have so many ? - did you put warm & natural or something in between your squares? The full size of the square or the finished size (between the seam lines)? Thanks for enlightening me :}

I did use Warm & Natural cut a smidge under 5 in. This should finish about 6 in sq. I say about, because I'm not too accurate in the 1/2 seam. I did a diagonal stitch from corner to corner of each sandwich. You can draw a line or just eyeball it as I did. I didn't wash my fabrics before cutting so the shrinkage helps to conceal some of the sloppiness I create, but it make it a little puffier. Setting the six in sqs. on point the becomes about 8 1/2 in. wide. |
You are sew helpful - thanks for all the great info.
|
That's beautiful! You have given me ideas for my next one! I love the diagonal look!
|
I also like the 2nd one. It is really pretty and I really like the looks of both your quilts. Will the raggy quilt seams keep fraying and come undone after a lot of washings?
