My husband made me a 17" square rotating mat by cutting another unused mat, attached it to a 17" square piece of plexiglass and I put it on top of my 14" Brooklyn Revolver rotating mat which has ball bearings for exceptionally easy rotating. Now I have a 14" round and a 17" square for squaring off those larger blocks.

I bought one a couple of years ago. It's one of those thin green ones that rotate (it might be an Olfa). Saw one for sale yesterday at Hobby Lobby for $42.99. WOW - I don't remember paying that much for it. I don't like it and have since converted a lazysusan and I like it so much more. It's similar to yours. They are great. Handy hubby you have.

Suggestion: If you have an IKEA close by check them for lazy susans. If you don't like round, glue a thin piece of square wood to the top (maybe 1/4 inch) to attach a small square cutting mat. I recycled an old mat that had cracked. Cut the good part to size and it fit perfectly. Used a Sharpie to mark the inches.

I have an old lazy susan that I used to keep in the middle of my table so everyone could reach the ketchup....haha
I'm going to make myself one out of that. I would have never thought of it on my own. Awesome idea.
