lpsewing 04-21-2011 07:13 PM

Wow,what a great winner idea.
Can you just imagine how much this would sell for @ a quilt shop ?

skydiver70 04-21-2011 07:37 PM

Great idea. I have one of those that held my record albums.

farscapegal 04-22-2011 03:08 AM

A couple of weeks ago my sister and I were in a thrift shop and found a recipe book holder that has slots cut in it similar to the wooden ruler holders sold at shows. It is shorter than the others, but still works and now I have my rulers under control!! It sits on my cutting table and now they are readily at my fingertips. Prior to this I had them on a corkboard above my machine and they were too heavy for the tacks to hold them and were constantly falling.

Great idea!

19angel52 04-22-2011 03:38 AM

very very clever! I use something similiar - holds folders in place but one can't see the smaller rulers/templates as well you could with yours.....

bebe 04-22-2011 03:40 AM

thanks ladies for all the comps!!! I like 2 think outside the box to save $$ and recycle items.

Yarn or Fabric 04-22-2011 04:19 AM

That is a brilliant idea! Now I'm going to have to keep an eye out for a small one at a thrift store - if I can clean up my room enough to allocate some desk space lol.

Brilliant.

moreland 04-22-2011 04:21 AM

Thanks for sharing--I'm going to keep my eyes open for one!

I'll be looking for such a holder. Great idea!

JCL in FL 04-22-2011 06:30 AM

Great idea I have one of the holders and they don't hold very many rulers. I'm going to be on the hunt!!

Georgia Peach 04-22-2011 06:33 AM

I found a bread slicer rack, they come in freestanding and collapsible styles that work great with our rulers too!

DonnaB 04-22-2011 06:55 AM

Very clever

joysewer 04-22-2011 07:00 AM

Great idea!! I was using a file holder for my rulers. At least that is what I think it is called. You buy them where the office supplies are. It did great but I wanted something that didn't stick out as far on my table so I bought a regular ruler rack....of course, it doesn't hold as many as the file holder!

Jshep 04-22-2011 07:05 AM

Great idea. Do you have anymore ideas? Let's start a post to see who can come up with thrifty ideas. I found an empty scrapbook holder at a yard sale. Use it to put patterns in.

That's a wonderful idea! :-)

annieshane 04-22-2011 07:26 AM

This is not being cheap, this is making more money available for fabric and quilting!

Feathers 04-22-2011 07:34 AM

What a cool, ingenious idea. I use to have a rack jusgt like that when I was a teeny booper. It was used to hold my old records and sat on top of the "hi fi"....now I ask you, am I dating myself or what. I'm sure there are youngersters out there asking "what is a record" and what is a hi fi?" Thanks for sharing.

Shorebird 04-22-2011 07:41 AM

What a GREAT IDEA............I have a couple of those (smaller) hanging around in the basement somewhere,,,,I will have to hunt them up.

PatQuilts 04-22-2011 07:45 AM

Such a nifty idea. Thanks for another reason to stop at our local thrift stores.

oz-quilter 04-22-2011 08:06 AM

Mine is an off cut of wood that my DH made some saw cuts in. The cuts are the same size as the rulers.

bebe 04-22-2011 08:29 AM
