I have been wanting to buy a holder for my rulers but have been a cheap skate. Today while at the thrift store an idea came to my mind???? I found a wire rack anfd bought it to put my rulers on. It worked perfectly and only cost $1.99. Leave it to a quilter she will utilize non quilting things and turn them into quilting tools.
the holder is black metal the rack as my ruler holder it worked and was only 1.99 |
What a great idea!! You are not cheap, just very clever! hahaha (more money for fabic!) :D:D
Good for you and isn't it wonderful to have them all in one place for easy access. Best $1.99 you ever spent, isn't it?
do you remember when we used to store vinyl records in those racks? brings back memories.
Wow, you can fit a gazillion more rulers on that rack than I can on my pretty wooden - and not cheap - one (only 8 rulers).
And the longer ones look like they are well balanced. I'm envious. Enjoy your wonderful new holder. Great find. I think I have to start hitting thrift stores. |
Ooooh, I like that idea. Thank you very much.

Mine is gold, looks like it use to hold LP's, a thrift shop buy for me too. Love the idea of repurposing.
it truly is the little things...good for you!
Perfect!! I'm going to keep my eye open for one of these at garage and 2nd hand stores. I need one.
be creative when u shop at thrift stores think outside of the boxand you will be surprised what can be used for quilting

Believe it or not, the original purpose of this gadget was to hold 45 rpm vinyl records. The kind with the big hole in the middle. They typically held one song on each side and cost was about $1.00 each. You could stand the records up and pull forward on one to see the label of the record behind it. My only recommendation would be to make some sort of cover to keep the dust off. I'm off the the thrift store for one of my own.

Cool idea!! I work in a school and I know there are some of those hanging around somewhere that nobody is using. I like that.
Great idea.

Brilliant idea!!!
what fun, I had several of those to hold my records back in the day.
Isn't it amazing how quilters think? I too used a file folder holder for my rulers- with solid metal ends so I can use magnets for those "reminder notes".
What a great idea.
It's much better then any ruler holders I've seen. Score one for you. |
Great idea and it will hold lots of rulers. Could also be used for some other things also. I remember seeing them years ago to hold record albums. Good for you to find something less costly to serve your purpose.
Okay!!! I want one!!!! I need to get my fanny to a resale shop -- QUICK!!!!

I have a nail in the wall at the height of my sewing table and I have them all hanging there.
