My 'Scrappy' Week of Sewing
4 Attachment(s)
It's winter time, the weather is dismal so what could I do but SEW ! This week I had so much fun doing scrap blocks. Tipped out my scrap tub onto the kitchen bench and sewed happily away.
This is what I got achieved for the week. Photo 1 - my usual day sewing, scraps everywhere ! Photo 2 - got all these blocks done for a scrappy quilt, quite a few more to come to make the quilt a decent size Photo 3 - some scrappy (or rainbow) fishes, will make a cute kids quilt Photo 4 - 'auditioning' a block which I hope to use to make one of my selvage quilts and I think it will work out fine I also finished off a couple of swap quilts and managed to get another swap quilt top sewn ready for quilting. Now I have 3 whole days away from the sewing machine - oh my, I wonder how long before the withdrawal symptoms kick in :) Enjoy and thanks for looking |
Wow, you had a very productive week! I am very jealous. I love the "audition" block and I agree it will make a delightful quilt. My 7 year old daughter, Bridget, states that the rainbow fish quilt needs a cat in the corner trying to get the fish.

I love your creativity. It may help me to get motivated on my scrap heap.
I love them all!
yes all are just great....
Very nicely done. Funny to hear that it's winter and cold there. I'm sitting my air conditioned living room because it's too hot to go out.
all are great scrappies... but i really love the first one that looks like bow ties
All are very nice though my favorite is the first one, too. The quilt will be striking when it's finished.
Very good use of scraps. I need to start using mine again. The first one is my favorite too.
Love these ways of using scraps .
Nice work. Not sure where you are in Aus. I am in Sydney and we are soooooo over all the rain over the past weeks.
Winter has really kicked in here. |
way to cool. great way to use up scraps.
Cute, cute, cute! Love scrappy. Hope these helped decrease your stash/es?!!!
they are all very nice love the first one!!!!!
Some great production!
I love them all!! What a great way to use up scraps!
Love the first one!
Great job on scrappies, they are my favorites. We are having a record breakingly hot summer here. Seems I always get more quilting done in the winter. The important thing is to enjoy which ever season is happening. Sure makes the world seem small that we can so easily talk to each other half way around the world.
I'm inspired ... now to get motivated! Just love those fishes and I agree with EvelynJ that there needs to be a cat in that quilt anticipating dinner .... or maybe it could be a shark! LOL
Great Work!!! |
What fun, given me ideas for my scrap pile.
Beautiful blocks! Made me laugh to read its winter there -- here in Oregon it only recently became spring, and then quickly into sizzling 90 degree temps a couple of days ago. My sister outside Melbourne (Jennie) has a friend named Lynn who quilts wonderfully, so I especially enjoyed your post! Your work is gorgeous!
wow, excellent use of scraps!!!
Awesome! Sorry it's winter! Yuk!
Like them all.
Love it! It looks like so much work! :)
Love the way you use your scraps, the fish quilt will be adorable when finished.
It is too cold in the Western District of Victoria to venture out for too long so my sewing room has been a haven this week. I have started a Chutney quilt completed 3 rows on my double wedding ring quilt, stitched up 4 more blocks of my CW quilt, finished a quilt for my DH and tidied my strip scraps. House work tomorrow but rain is forecast for Sunday yippeee.
Very nice! I especially like the first one.
Impressive curved seams. :-) You go, girl! Show us the finished quilts, okay?
Wow...I wish I could get going...Nice work.....
Hello from Lynn Preston, Melbourne Aust. Love your scraps :)
Winter hasn't gotten you down. Nice quilts.
Love the work, Lynnie! Scraps are fun, but never go away, so we have to deal with them!
I especially like the first one. It's such a good way to use up those scraps.
Nice quilts. Great job.
Great way to use up the scraps!
Your quilts are wonderful. You inspire me to get started on my scraps.
Busy busy! I need to get into that mode too. It's summer here and so much going on that keeps me away from my sewing room. It has been so hot that my sewing room is my refuge! I have an AC in opposite windows just to keep me cool. Motivation is somewhat lacking but reading this board makes me want to get busy now! Thanks.
Love your quilts, especially the first one. Care to share your pattern? Would love to make one....I love scrappy.
I love scrappies. These are all going to be great.
