Very very pretty!

Welcome!

Esqmommy 01-01-2010 10:20 AM

What a wonderful quilt - your second eh? You did great. I love your color choices and the pattern is interesting too? Are you keeping it, or is it a gift? Be sure to label it, so you know the year it was made, etc. Listen to me...I've got a ton of quilts around with NO labels. But I mean to get to it one of these days!!

BeachBirdie 01-01-2010 10:22 AM

Is that an X-Block quilt pattern? It's very pretty...love the colors!

carol 1 01-01-2010 10:24 AM

Very pretty just love the color you used.

SulaBug 01-01-2010 12:25 PM

I have four of those blocks up on my design wall right now. Your fabric choices are better than mine. Love it.

To answer recent questions ---
Yes, This is only the second quilt I've ever made.
It IS an X-block pattern.
I made it for my sister who doesn't even know that I realize what a sewing machine is. (boy, will she be surprised when she gets the box in the mail )
I was told, early on, that a quilt isn't finished until it has a label.

And thank you all for the nice comments.

Ducky 01-01-2010 05:25 PM

I Love It! You really did a beautiful job on it. Did you pick out your own colors? I really like that pattern, too. Hope sister loves it.

Old man- New quilter 01-01-2010 05:31 PM

I hate getting old... I can't remember from one minute to the next just HOW to get a shot of my work to post here. I know, I know, I've done it twice but, that's the heck of it when I can't get it done again.

Old man- New quilter 01-01-2010 05:33 PM

Yes! I picked the colors myself. (I'm told that I have a knack for that sort of thing)

Old man- New quilter 01-01-2010 06:02 PM

I'm going to try this just one more time and then I'm giving up......

THAT'S IT !!!! I am unable to show you the double wedding ring variation that I'm working on because I can't figure out how to get image A to area B. Trying to do it by the instructions just won't work for me..

jacee kay 01-01-2010 06:10 PM

very nice. I like the colors and the pattern

n2scraplvr 01-01-2010 09:27 PM

Are your pictures over 1MB? If they are, you will have trouble loading them. Let me know and I'll show you a really FAST way to resize them that takes less than a second to do one!! ;)

You really have an eye for color. I'd love to see your sister's face when she opens the package! Bet she won't believe that you made it.

What motivated you to take up quilting?

What motivated you to take up quilting?

Actually, my wife had been doing it for about 13 years and I "tolerated" her hobby. Then, one day she was watching a Fons & Porter show that had "a guy" telling about his quilting methods ( turned out to be John Flynn ) and, behind them, on the wall was this quilt that 'struck' me. I had had a lot of sewing machine experience from being in the Navy for 21 years and, I told my sweet little wife that if she could find the "plans" for that quilt, I would make it...
It turned out to be a double wedding ring variation and she wouldn't let me start there. I had to make a 9 patch first. That was the baby quilt that I finished last year. The double W/R is the one that I'm trying to get a picture of to post here and I'm having a heck of a time getting that done. The picture I have is NOT actually my finished quilt but, an EQ6 layout that I wanted to share.
