anniec55 02-15-2011 07:33 PM

You are soooo fortunate to have a husband who understands, supports and encourages your interest. You did a beautiful job with design and he's done a wonderful job making it reality. The workmanship looks amazing. Love the pup, he looks really soft and cuddly! If you ever want to loan the Mr. out for furniture design and built I'm sure you would have a ready audience!! I would like to submit my request for the top of the list!!!

You have a very talented and thoughtful DH. Your new furniture is beautiful.

MotherDuck 02-16-2011 01:52 AM

Congratulations to your DH - a true craftsman! What beautiful furniture ... my Father used to make me beautiful things in timber when he was alive - lots quilting related :) Mum always managed to get one of each that I 'ordered' as well :) Her quilting group all claimed Dad for their own as well ... they used to visit him in his shed and give him many many order to fill. So sad that this wonderful Man is no longer around to visit in his shed - he dwells forever in my heart ... still miss him so very much ... Here's a beautiful piece of writing that I'd like to share with you. I saw it entered in a handwriting competition many years ago ... "Things men have made with wakened hands and put soft life into, are awake though years with transferred touch, and go on glowing for long years - and for this reason, some old things are lovely, warm still with the life of skillful men who made them." It reminds me so much of my Dad ... God bless you and your wonderful Craftsman husband ...

Dad's skills were passed onto my brothers - two who work wonderful miracles in wood. One brother builds beautiful wooden boats (won many awards!) and the youngest brother has his own timber business building bespoke pieces of furniture and recreating mouldings and windows etc for those restoring old homes. He built me a beautiful china cupboard, which is admired by many, as well as two lovely mirrors for our home. (One's actually an old window frame - above a little birdhouse table Dad build me)

Your pieces of furniture appear to have a 'badge' on them ... has your husband put a label on them?

Picklelady 02-16-2011 04:07 AM

WOWZA!! Fantastic job! My DH is a woodworker too and he does so many things for me too. How big is your room?? It looks fantastic.

gonzales_pat 02-16-2011 05:16 AM

I love your room. I recently got a Bailey machine and am really having a hard time with it. I didn't put it together with the button on top. Maybe I didn't read directions correctly. Can you tell me what the tubeing is that runs from the handle? Or any hints that you could give me. I need help. Thanks in advance. I am haveing big knots under and the needle locks up. Suggestions!!!!!

Even designed and built our house! Did a fantastic oak library in our studio. Takes up the wall!...Yes, he is a keeper!

Made me several Oak Quilt Hangers....

Now, that he is retired, I wish he could get some woodworking jobs.

He is in the process of finishing his 1932 Ford Roadster. Built it from the ground up.....

I wonder sometimes how people can do all those things! LOL
Imagine....building your own car!

Your room looks amazing Karen.....your hubby does amazing work....can you show us pictures of the quilt hangers he has made for you

skeet 02-27-2011 08:15 AM
