My sewing room - quick clean up

1 Attachment(s)
Going to try and post a picture...fingers crossed....here I go ...My folks come over once a year for a visit. Friday evening they sent me an email saying they were going to stop by for an hour at 9am on Sat. to bring by a loom thread holder for my warping board that my dad made for me. After being very tired from working all day I decided to clean in the morning...WOW...talk about flying around for 2 hours cleaning...the biggest chore was my sewing room. I was so impressed that when they left I quilted a pillow for the hubby...here are the pictures from this morning...after I sewed all day yesterday. Love it...I need company that go into my sewing room more often. I clean better under pressure.

very nice room

Neesie 07-01-2012 07:53 AM

It looks wonderful! Wanna come do mine, next? :)

My sewing area is set up in a shed, which still holds some furniture, which won't fit in our (severely downsized) house. Still trying to unload . . . uh, SHARE some of it, with the kids. :)

You did a great job. I too work better and get more done in alot less time when I'm under pressure. Otherwise I tend to dawdle and piddle too much.

Very nice and neat room!!

SandScraps 07-02-2012 06:42 AM

Pristine! Please send them to visit me too, so I can end up with a room like yours. Of course, you'd have to come before them to do some training and demonstration.

I have a thread holder similar to yours that my Dad made me too. Nifty. What kind of loom do you have? My Dad made my floor loom also and then more recently, someone gave me a rigid heddle table loom. I am curious as to what you weave, what kind of threads you use, and where you get them, locally or on the internet..

twoxover 07-02-2012 11:02 AM

really nice sewing room! will you post pictures of what you make with your loom????

Tessa 07-02-2012 11:26 AM

Here is the 22 inch loom my Aunt gave me. I bought it to Harrisburg and they upgraded it to a 6 treadle and added lams. it use to have rope that went directly to the treadles. I have not made anything yet. There are wonderful online classes for 29.00 if interested let me know I will send you info. The online classes are wonderful. you can download the classes or they will send you the disk. I have the that teaches you how to warp the warping board as well as how to set it up. So much more to looming than I ever would have thought.

I can make blankets...though I may not since I quilt, scrafs, rugs, table runners, place mats. My friend has one and the stuff she makes with hers is amazing. I bought my thread at Harrisbug, 100 percent cotton. You can use just about anything. All depends on what you want to make. My Aunt used left over strips of cottom materials and made rugs.

barny 07-02-2012 02:08 PM

Send your company to me, maybe I'd clean too.

alfosa421 07-02-2012 02:32 PM

mine will never look that good I'm creatively messy

carolaug 07-02-2012 02:39 PM

My room was getting very messy...amazing what you can do when you folks decide to visit. I am wondering how long it will stay like that. LOL...I was good about picking it up after I sewed on Saturday evening. My hubby was amazed. I do have a closet up stairs full of fabric that noone ever sees...; )

Yellow is my favorite color, I painted my quilting room the same color. I love your carpet as well.

AuntieD 07-02-2012 06:06 PM

Good looking room. I like the decorations on the shelf.

Latrinka 07-03-2012 04:45 AM

Wow, very nice!

ppquilter 07-03-2012 05:30 AM

WOW the loom is wonderful looking, have fun on that! I got rid of my treadmill when we last moved cause the only place it would fit was in my quilting rm and I need all 27 x 30 of that for quilting and collecting machines, big and little. :)

jamsbuying 07-03-2012 05:48 AM

Very nice, thanks for sharing.

KathyKat 07-03-2012 05:53 AM

Great sewing room! I always am more creative and productive when my room is clean. I also work better under pressure.

janiesews 07-03-2012 06:39 AM

What a wonderful space you have and I love the shelves around the top of the walls and your display of neat items. How nice that your folks came to visit and brought you an addition to your hobby. Enjoy!
