Are those beautiful quilts usable or are they more decorative? I'm assuming they are decorative because the top is organza. (I know don't assume. haha)

Oh, and need I even say...anything, that hasn't already been said, here...gorgeous work! :D

I made the first shadow trapunto bag for one of my sister. She wore it day after day, for three month, and the only part that suffered some damage were the corners. The rest of the bag has the organza intact. After that, I made the next bags using just cotton fabrics on the corners.
A purse made from organza is less durable than one made from upholstery fabric, for example. It needs a little more care…but it is more beautiful…
CrKathleen, yes, the quilts are more decorative.

Thank you, Kwhite, for the “bump“.

These are beautiful. Is this a type of embroidery?

I wonder if there was another type of fab that would give you a similiar look that would be sturdier. Those quilts are just so beautiful I would to make one and be able to use it. (My hubby is hard on pretty stuff. haha) I could always make one and pull it off the bed in the evening. Thanks Geta for the inspiration!!! Maybe one day......

bemo 05-13-2009 04:13 PM

CrKathleen, you can use any other sheer fabric (cotton batist, as example ). But the results will not be the same, because the batist it isn't as sheer as organza. The batting motifs will not be so visible and the color of background fabric will be more faded.

Hi Coleen,

Here it is the technique

http://cadouri-din-inima.blogspot.co...nou-quilt.html

The first layer of the quilt is organza. The white motifs under organza are made from batting. And under these there are 3 layers (cotton fabric, batting and a backing)- like in an ordinary quilt.

fktsewing 05-14-2009 12:44 PM

THOSE ARE ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have done this technique before, but never with the colored backgrounds. You are extremely talented. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Peel,

I don't have a longarm machine, just a domestic one. A Pfaff Select.
The organza I use is just 60" wide so the larger quilt I made is 52" square. Some of them are 40", I also made two miniatures (19") and a few other smaller pieces.

Happy quilting to you all and thank you for your nice comments. I am happy you like my quilts !
