if you do not want to do piano key then cut up square or rectangles and piece together to make your outside border.Put the black as a 2 inch innder border fora stopping point and forsome pop to your quilt.

gcathie 11-15-2008 05:47 PM

I'm sure whatever you decide will look nice...it's your style and taste and very pretty

Ditto. i don't think I would add another color to the border. Just black. About 4 inches. Do a scrapy binding. That would look nice.

Your shoo fly's look great. You have been a busy girl. :D

You go girl. Suprise us!

littlehud 11-15-2008 06:33 PM

You just think it is OK. Silly you, it is wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Marcia 11-15-2008 10:50 PM

It is fab-u-lous girl!!! I love the black for border. I always think of the border like a picture frame around your art. The black frame is perfect for this "art". Another border of scrappy would be great too, if you have the fabric.

tlrnhi 11-16-2008 04:28 AM

Awesome job! You did good, girl!!

ChristineD 11-16-2008 05:06 AM

Bev that's gorgeous!
Shoofly was the first block I ever did. Made a table center in a hand quilting class and was hooked on quilting.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks..... Should I go with Black OR White for border.....

Sorry just getting back to this, I misread your first post, thought you said black AND white not black OR white. I think the black because you have such a mix of bright colors that the black makes a good nuetral. I love black with brights!!!

at first i thought dusty rose, but figured it would get lost. i like the black. it kinda evens it out

Bevanger 11-16-2008 06:19 AM

thanks everyone for your input...... i'm adding the black today.. :D

 I'll be chomping , too. I hadn't posted my opinion, but I was thinking that black or white would not be the way to go. But -- I DO like the black And the scrappy border along with it sounds like it would be really nice. By the way, your blocks are great !!

jacquemoe 11-16-2008 05:50 PM

Very nice, Bev. What size are you going to make the borders?

Grandma Cindy 11-16-2008 08:38 PM

Bev - how about an one inch black with then a scrappy outer border, if you have any scrapes from the squares remaining.
sometime a quilt needs no borders unless it needs to be larger, I like it alot, Cindy

I WAS HOPING TO DO JUST A BLACK BORDER. IT DOESN'T NEED TO GO BIGGER :? SORRY FOR CAPS...... I'M HOLDING TEDDY IN MY ARMS

Grandma Cindy 11-17-2008 05:37 AM

Those caps aren't important to me Bev, but holding that cute ball of fur is where it's at. I have a little girls blankie that I want to add Minkie(extremely soft and slippery) to the back and I was wondering what you would tie it with? Thanks for any help... Cindy

Teddy loves being with mom when I'm on the computer. It started when he was little and broke his arm. He couldn't move around too good so I had him lie on the table in front of me for comfort..Hrm. Good question.... I've never used Minkie, but on my quilts I use matching 6 strand embroidery floss. To me I just like it better and its easier to tie.

Grandma Cindy 11-17-2008 07:49 AM

How did he break his poor tiny leg ,Bev, bless his heart!

Missi 11-17-2008 10:01 AM

Very pretty quilt, with the sun shining behind it I thought of stained glass. Nice colors, agree with black border, not too wide, and scrappy binding. :D
