My Sister's Quilt finally finished!
3 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,
I know this isn't a traditional kind of quilt, but I used my two favorite kinds of patterns, Dresden and Applique. I call this 80" square quilt "Luanne's TippyCat" for my youngest sister, 54, who is fighting for her life right now. She was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer last May. It came back again, and this time, it returned with a vengence. She has a Tuxedo cat that only loves her... not any other person on this planet can get within 4 feet of this feline, but that's a whole other story. My sister loves this cat and right now, what ever makes her happy, well, I love it too (even though I cannot pet the darn animal!). As always, I am lurking and looking at all the beautiful things you ladies and gents are creating and sharing with everyone. You all keep me inspired to be better and better. Thank you for looking at "Luanne's TippyCat". Please keep my sister in prayers for a good, peaceful journey home. Rebecca |
Sorry about your sister. Will keep her in my prayers. This adorable quilt is sure to lift her spirits. By the way, we must be practically neighbors; I'm in Florence.

My heart goes out to you, your sister and your entire family. You'll all be in my thoughts and prayers. I can't wait for you to present this to her.

Awe inspiring quilt. Love the theme and hope it comforts your sister as she travels onward. My best friend in all the world passed two years ago from cervical cancer. While she was going through chemo I made a quilt for her to use. She used it on her bed until the last day. I now have it on my bed and it reminds me of what a treasure a wonderful friend is. I never had a sister, but she was like a sister to me. My thoughts will be with you.

Very original, and one of a kind, just as your sister, and her cat are, I am sure. Blessings to your sister, you, and your family.
will keep you both in my prayers. she is going to really love this quilt.
God bless you for making it for your sister. |
What a perfect quilt for her. I lost my husband to colon cancer at 49, will be praying for her and the family.
So sorry to hear about your sister...the quilt is beautiful and I pray that your sister has peace and enjoys every minute she has with you and her quilt...I lost one of my sisters to colon cancer in 2004 at the age of 57...still miss her everyday...only 5 months after I lost our mom...so prayers for you to be strong in this trying time...and that you have God's comfort with you both...
That is just lovely. Well done.
Beautiful quilt. Your sister is in my prayers.
Love and prayers to you both. She will love the quilt and the fact that you made it and put your whole heart into it .
Isn't it wonderful that quilting can be such therapy especially in a time of sadness. |
nicely done
Love the design of your quilt. Fans and dresdens are a favorite. The cats make it wonderfully unique. Prayers for all.
I think you did a beautiful job with this quilt. I will definitely lift your sister in my prayers. God Bless!
I will pray for your sister and the families. You quilt will bring much comfort knowing how person-specific it is. It is gorgeouse!
Absolutely gorgeous, truly a one of a kind. I hope she gets to enjoy it. Great idea you had making this one. Prayers said for your Sister's easy journey.
Lovely. I'm sure it will provide hours of comfort for your sister. Prayers to her & all of your family.
It didn't show up on the pictures, and I'm sort of photgraph-challenged, but the black border is kitty paw prints, and the centers of the Dresdens are also a kitty print fabric. The sillouette of the cat looks exactly like her cat. I have a ton of top stitching and satin stitching on this quilt, but it was fun to make.
Thank you all for your compliments... Rebecca |
It is too bad that your sister is sick. Your quilt is darling.
Love it and so will she. So sorry to hear she has such a difficult fight ahead of her. Your quilt will bring her much joy. Blessings to you both. Yolanda Wood River

What a striking quilt-are the cats silouhetted in red as well? God bless you and give your sister the peace in her heart and soul on this final journey. As a nurse of 30 years I have had to witness many journeys and peace is the ultimate prayer, mine for her and you and yours.

This quilt is super fantastic. I love the cat and the Dresden pattern done in my favorite colors. While the idea must be original to you I am seriously thinking of incorporating it into a quilt just for myself except my cat will be white and the plates black and white prints. Lung cancer wiped out my whole family except for my youngest brother so I know what you are going through. My prayers go with you and yours.
What a beautiful quilt and I know your sister and hopefully her cat will love it! I will keep you, your sister and the entire family in my prayers. Hey... I'm a Kentucky girl also... looks like you are a northern Ky girl. I am just 8 miles south from Hodgenville in a little town of Magnolia. Give your sister a hug from me and maybe a nod to the cat. God Bless You All.
so sory about your sister the quilt is beautiful!!!
