My sons quilt

4 Attachment(s)
My son came to me on Monday night and asked if I would help him make a quilt for a friend by Saturday. Took him shopping Tuesday then taught him how to cut out the blocks. We, I should say he started sewing the blocks together while I assisted with cutting since we were on a time crunch. He did a really good job but the blocks strips and the fact that Saturday was closing in quickly started stressing him out so I stepped in to help and finally got it finished it today.

So proud of him. He picked the fabrics, the design and how he wanted it quilted.

Heres is his friends quilt which she loves.

Thanks for stopping to take a peak

He did great. I think it prevents discouragement to lend a helping hand when needed. Nice work, Mom.

Kathy T. 02-15-2015 02:43 PM

Nice teamwork! He's a very thoughtful boy (even tho' a little unsure of time management - that only comes with experience!).

Grandma Bonnie 02-15-2015 02:46 PM

Wonderful quilt. So nice of your son to do this for a friend and you're a good mom to make sure it got done.

Bravo! The young man deserves applause for designing a lovely quilt, making most of it, and of course the initiative for wanting to make a quilt for a friend!

I am really impressed with his work and dedication. What a nice young man to want to do something like this for a friend. And how wonderful of you to help him get his gift completed. The friend is a lucky person.

Kudos!!! From start to finish you showed what a good mom you are - and it is also apparent in what a kind and giving young man you have raised. You could have said no - there was not enough time - or discouraged him in other ways - but you supported what he wanted to do - and then offered the guidance and help that was needed when it was needed. Great story - and great cooperative quilt. Lucky girl too.

What a nice gift for his friend. I'm sure she loved it.

craftyone27 02-16-2015 12:05 AM

Sounds like you have raised a great kid , hope he knows what a great mom he has to help with this on short notice. I'm sure his friend (are you sure it's not a girlfriend?) will love her new quilt.

Homespun 02-16-2015 07:12 AM

that looks great!

Susann 02-16-2015 07:22 AM

What a wonderful gift for his friend! I love the first pic with him. His long hair, jacket hanging off his shoulder, leaning on the table as he presses his seams. What a moment in time!!

Great quilt, beautiful colors! You have a wonderful son, and his friend is very lucky. Hope he knows how lucky he is to have a loving mom!

awesome stuff... cherish these times together. My sons are now 29 and 26 : (
they grow up too fast.

orsdrramas 02-17-2015 03:45 AM

crush time sewing. My one daughter is particularly good with that. "Mom, I need a costume by Saturday." Thank goodness they have not presented with needing a quilt in a couple of days.

Babs194068 02-17-2015 05:35 AM

How great is that!!

coopah 02-17-2015 05:43 AM

WOW! That was quick work and so beautiful! Nice, nice, nice. And what could be better than helping your child?

What a great job he did. You must be so proud. Thx for sharing.

ManiacQuilter2 02-17-2015 05:46 AM

What a great job he did. There are so many men involved in the quilting industry. John Flynn is always the first to pop in my mine. Just meet a big biker guy in the fabric dept at Hobby Lobby and he is learning to quilt from his MIL.

twinkie 02-17-2015 07:02 AM

What a great job he (and you) did. Great looking.

bibi 02-17-2015 07:38 AM

MargeD 02-17-2015 09:49 AM

He did an awesome job, even if you had to step in to meet the deadline - a great collaborative effort. You should be very proud of him for wanting to make such a beautiful quilt.

matraina 02-17-2015 12:03 PM

Beautiful!!! Is his friend a Delta Gamma? I am, too. Those are our colors and our pin is an anchor.

hudgoddess 02-17-2015 12:25 PM

My sons' involvement in quilting stopped at hanging out in the sewing room to chat on occasion. Lucky mom-lucky son-lucky friend!

annette1952 02-17-2015 04:55 PM
