There is an easy way to make this block with 4-patches. I call it the Disappearing4Patch. I make it with 5" strips or 5" charms. Two 5"xWOF strips yield four 8-1/2" finished blocks.

When you have a cool stash, you're gonna be able to make awesome quilts from it! I'm inspired to make one of these from my odd-ball stash of stuff I love, but never could really match with anything. I love this, thanks for posting! This would look really cute on point, too.

Oh, I do love it! It makes me do a little mental happy-dance just to look at it...
It is a little like a 9 patch, but different...
If school was not starting so soon I would be so inspired to go attack my stash of squares and do something similar.
