It is beautiful! See if one of the LQS like Windy Moon knows a reputable appraiser.

To bad you couldn't get the history of the woman who actually made it.......to complete its provenance. You certainly found a treasure...how sad the family did not realize what they had

So glad you found the quilt and appreciate the amazing work that was done on it. Isn't it too bad to think that a lot of the work we are doing today on our quilts will have a similar fate? As someone said before...only those who quilt can truly know and appreciate the amount of time and effort that go into the quilts we make.

I am wondering if it is one of the whole cloth quilt kits you could get from Herrschener's? I loved getting their catalog in the mail and would keep them forever enjoying just looking at the kits. Years ago they had large sections of printed cross stitch embroidery and I always thought some day I would find the time to make one. But the closest I got was the baby quilts that I made for friends.

You will be a good caregiver to this beauty. What a story. If you can document the information of the maker and your story it will help keep the history of this stunning quilt alive. You did good!

That is exquisite and I think you got a great deal for under $100. I am very happy for you that the stains came out.

What a treasure! Antiques Roadshow needs to see this!

My mother cross stitched the exact same quilt in the early 1970's and it was never quilted till 1986. My sister had it and it was becoming very thin so I rescued it and had a new layer of batting and a new backing put on it and then myself and an Amish lady tied it. I also put a label on it with my mom's name and the name of the lady that did the original quilting. Glad you rescued yours!

Wow! What a beauty! It astounds me how family members can let go of such heirlooms. But I know you'll give it the TLC and place of honor it deserves.

It's absolutely gorgeous and well worth far more than $100, so you got a great deal and the quilt found a new home where it will be well loved, I'm sure.
