My Sunday Project

My wife asked me at 9am if I could make a lap quilt for her friend's birthday. Me being the sucker that I am said sure. 11 hrs later and here it is :)

themadpatter 01-27-2019 05:55 PM

OK, that is really impressive. Does that pattern have a name? Also, don't tell anyone out in the "real world" about this. People will be expecting this kind of output from all of us, and then the thugs might come after you. Heh, heh, heh.

I've seen it with two different names, this is one of them. https://youtu.be/9J_-5IOVs2g

Omg, what themadpatter said cracked me up! :D
That's a beauty, Joe! You did a beautiful job.

quiltingshorttimer 01-27-2019 06:27 PM

Wow! Not sure if I'm more amazed about the length of time you took on this (almost nothing!) or the quilt--very pretty!

QuiltnNan 01-27-2019 06:31 PM

great job!!

BETTY62 01-27-2019 06:37 PM

Love your quilt. The pattern and fabric combination is awesome. As an FYI, I spend more time ripping out seams in my quilts than it took you to start and finish your quilt.

gramajo 01-27-2019 07:18 PM

Lovely quilt!

zozee 01-27-2019 07:42 PM

Oh, wow, Joe. That is gorgeous and I am more than impressed that you did it in a day. Your wife owes you a good back rub. I'm sure your neck and shoulders are feelin' the 11 hours !

Love the fabric. Your wife's friend is getting quite a treasure.

Tartan 01-27-2019 08:03 PM

Great quilt and neat backing!

osewme 01-27-2019 08:04 PM

What a great quilt. I can't imagine even the simplest of all simple quilts done in 11 hours. You must have really had the pedal to the metal the whole time. Your wife's friend will surely love the beauty that you made.

Brook 01-27-2019 09:19 PM

What I great gift! Beautiful quilt. I love the pattern.

Homespun 01-28-2019 02:48 AM

OH, wow, ...

mermaid 01-28-2019 02:48 AM

Fantastic!--you're a keeper.

quilterpurpledog 01-28-2019 03:39 AM

Nice pattern and well chosen fabrics for the purpose. It is really good for the mojo to finish a project so quickly. We all need one of those kind of finishes from time to time. Lucky recipient.

pocoellie 01-28-2019 04:36 AM

You did a beautiful job!!

SillySusan 01-28-2019 04:42 AM

Wow! Wonderful quilt! Did you have time to eat ... or even breathe? ... Amazing!

ArtsyOne 01-28-2019 04:56 AM

Great color combination and pattern. Good job!!

Joe 01-28-2019 06:09 AM

Thanks all, she loves the quilt so that's good. But I'm exhausted today so lesson learned tell my wife to plan ahead next time lol.

toogie 01-28-2019 06:36 AM

It takes me longer than that to pull out all the fabrics and decide on a pattern. You did a great job piecing too. Love your jellyroll.
As far as mermaid's comment, I'm not too sure how I'd feel if my husband sewed and quilted..Two sides of the coin, one, we'd either fight for time in the sewing room, sharing machines, etc OR the flip side, he'd like it so much he wouldn't think twice about buying a mid-arm or long arm machine!!!-lol

Great quilt. Thanks for the link. Wow, one day. Impressive.

Iceblossom 01-28-2019 06:42 AM

Joe, that's a lovely project and I enjoyed the scenery fabric on the back. I might just steal that concept in the near future, I have a lot of precut strips I'd like to use.

I just finished collecting fabric for a Postcard quilt and took an actual postcard sized piece of fabric with some sort of picture on it, framed by a narrow dark/light gray attic window, next step is to sash the whole thing with black. But anyway, while I've been collecting fabrics for this I've gotten a number of large scale scenic prints and appreciating them while I cut out a tiny little piece. But I've been thinking I'll piece the back with various large scale yardage, probably the best way to enjoy them is in large pieces.

sewbizgirl 01-28-2019 07:34 AM

Beautiful! I love the Strip Twist pattern, and you chose such pretty colors.

Barb in Louisiana 01-28-2019 07:36 AM

The quilt came out great. I love the colors and I love how intricate the block looks, but is very simply made. You've got a winner in that husband.

Jane Quilter 01-28-2019 07:42 AM

very impressive. Looks like you spent a month on it!

sash 01-28-2019 07:46 AM

Love that pattern and have been wanting to try it for sometime as I have plenty of stringy scraps. Love your fabrics on your quilt and btw, great job and finish.

Boston1954 01-28-2019 07:51 AM

Wow! If we were in cars, you would be on the highway, and I would be on a curvy country road. That is incredibly fast, and it came out great.

I know right?! :D

Anniedeb 01-28-2019 09:47 AM

Wow! That's great.I really like the colors, and Thanks for the link. I thought my day was productive....I made 10 leaves and 8 circles for my current applique project! I must say it took me a long time to "master" the process!

pchp 01-28-2019 11:28 AM

Wow! Quick and it looks great!

RedGarnet222 01-28-2019 11:38 AM

How nice! You really got a wiggle on to finish this quilt in a day! Wow joe, are you for hire?

Yeah it is a very simple block but looks so impressive, I love it the strips are leftover from the queen top I made for our bed.

Appliqué scares me lol. 18 pieces is a very solid day!

Jingle 01-28-2019 03:26 PM

Great job Joe on the absolutely beautiful quilt. Love the back too.

Texas_Sue 01-29-2019 04:36 AM

This is sure beautiful. Also check out the "Jelly Roll Quilt by Three Dudes". That one uses blocks made of just strips, places them right side together one facing up and down and the other facing side to side. Sew all around the perimeter and cut on the bias both ways. These look totally complicated but are so easy and look so good.

sJens 01-29-2019 07:16 AM

Oh my gosh that is beautiful. Love that pattern.

stillvnu 01-29-2019 08:16 AM

Great quilt!

midwife 01-29-2019 09:25 AM
