Last summer when Klue, Esq and Sandpat were discussing the Jane Stickle quilt I decided I NEEDED to make one, too. I started on Nov 17 (kept a block diary) and finished piecing the top with 2 borders on May 15. If I take out a month we were away plus Christmas week, thats less than 5 months start to finish. They were addicitve! I only pieced a few with the applique since I'm not an appliquer and the rest I machine pieced, no PP. I did substitute about 15 blocks with my Texana pieces and others with midget block at random. My favorite is the A&M logo (where my oldest grandson is studying thru the Seaman to Admiral program in the US Navy). Now the hard part of quilting it! I'm very open to suggestions as how to showcase the quilt with the quilting. I just got a LAQ but haven't developed any skills with it.

Very nice -- I love the Texas touch -- and a great way to bypass the techniques that you do not want to do!
Are you saving the cathedral looking ones for another quilt? Those are just awe inspiring!!! You do great work, girl!!!
Ooooooo I really like your rendition of this quilt :D:D:D
I love the stained glass look in the last picture! |
The cathedral looking ones are pics of the back of the quilt as it was hanging in my garage doorway. When I saw it I dedided I had to have pics of the backside, also.
They both are amazing
But I am a little confused  Are they two seperate quilts ? Love the personal touches in the middle of the top one  Great color choices also |
WOW - that is gorgeous. You have done a fantastic job.
Wow, that's really beautiful!
I love the individuality you gave to this quilt -
- the colors - the blocks that are "yours" - the very unique border - love those elongated diamonds that you used |
Had to stop for a minute to figure out what you did!!! Aren't you the creative one!! Would have never thought of that.
The photo you took of the sun shining through the quilt to make the "cathedral windows" is a springboard for a whole other project.
Awesome Work!
Oh, it's so lovely! :D
WOW!!! That is so nice!!
There are few words adequate to describe the beautiful work you have in this quilt. It is like reading a book. Study one block and move on to study the next block. I don't want to miss seeing a single block because each one is unique within itself.
Welcome to the quiltingboard. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. I am glad you have joined us. |
WOW!
FABULOUS!
(Clear across Texas from you!) |
It's absolutely stunning! I am speechless!
You should be so very very proud of yourself
You've done a wonderful job I love it.
Wonderful job. Love your personal touch.
Now we all expect another, in four months, with "leaded quilting lines!" Better get going!!! This is beautiful, good luck with the quilting.
a friend from here emailed me and said i had to come by the site and look at your quilt and boy was she right!!!!
this is just amazing. i love how the trip around the world just pops out and that you put texas as the center block. you did an amazing job in record time i'm truly floored by its beauty. outline and echo quilting is very popular but i've also seen an allover design that looks just as lovely, just work within your comfort zone. here's a link to the allover meandering. http://carolinapatchworks.com/blog/c...by-jane-quilt/ and here's a link to a DJ that took 2nd place in houston this year http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/i...view=slideshow |
Wow, beautiful work!
Wow, that is wonderful.
Awesome. That's a lot of work for 5 months. Did you sleep?
What a lovely quilt. I love your personalization of it too. Very very nice.
WOW!!!! That is amazing - way to go! I love the originality you added into it - you made it your own, as they say on American Idol! Fantastic job. Did you keep track of hours, or time spent? You must've cruised like crazy.

I love how you made the quilt larger by echoing the "wedges" of the border. Because of its size, I personally would be limited to hand quilting, so my thinking automatically goes to hand quilting and looking at each individual block and doing what works for it. |
wow!
Klue, I am unbelievably touched that you would take the time to put your personal "stamp of approval" on My Texas Jane. You and your beautiful work has always been an inspiration to me. I miss seeing your creations. I miss you, too.
My sis, Gangles on the board, is a wonderful hand quilter, but the genes didn't rub off on me. I'm still undecided. Thanks for the links for the other quilt and echo quilting. Now to make the big decision. Again, my thanks. Bettye |
This just awesome!
That is awesome. Great job.
Wow!!! Fabulous!!!!
Glad I got the hand quilting genes, but you are the most talented quilter, except for maybe our other sis. Cant wait to get my hands on it, and i will gladly help you quilt it.

WOW! Lots of pieces! You must be a very patient woman! Your quilt looks great!
Wow, this is fantastic! Thank you for joining!
This is an amazing work of art! I had to look at all the blocks for about 10 minutes. This is crazy fabulous!
WOW! That is gorgeous
I pray the Lord lets me live long enough to make one of these but He is going to have to multiply my talents. The hope keeps me quilting. I am amazed by your work and the work of others like you.
