I thought I would do some sewing when I got home but being a bit tired..I just thought I would finish some pin cushions that I had started.... thought I would should them to you - I love the fabric so much....

The front of the pin cushions is an embroidered Velvet fabric from England....I was able to make 4 of the Ivory, 2 of the Caramel and 1 of the Lagoon....

The backs of the pin cushions are the same as the front fabric - but not embroidered.

The Ivory and Caramel ones are 5 1/2" x 6"....
the Lagoon is 5 1/2" x 6 1/2".

Now I think I will have a bit of lay-me-down time in front of the t.v. :-)

Hope you are all having a great evening!

Bill

Beautiful!

Lockeb 01-06-2011 06:11 PM

THe fabric is from a company in England called SHEILA COOMBES.

The name of the fabric is ISTAN,,,it is an exclusive home decor fabric available just to the decorator and designer trade.....I was fortunate to have some smaller cuts...this fabric retails here in Canada for $478.00/Yard...(No, I didn't make a mistake.. :-)

The fabric is 57% Viscose, 31% Cotton, 12% Polyester

I also love velvets - and this one is so beautiful and the handfeel is so rich..it was such a pleasure to work with this one.

Lockeb 01-06-2011 06:27 PM

I love making pin cushions...I always did - don't know why - but whever it's velvet, felted wool, just left over quilting cottons..I have always been into pin cushions.......I think they are a blast and so much fun..

QuiltQtrs 01-06-2011 06:57 PM

Beautiful cushions and beautiful work!!

I don't have a pin cushion. I used to have those red and green ones but they've been long gone for years. I guess I should make myself one since I'm always looking for the "dish" of pins. lol

Leann 01-06-2011 07:26 PM

How elegant looking to be so practical!

MoMiMi 01-06-2011 07:31 PM

Kmshir 01-06-2011 07:37 PM

Lockeb 01-06-2011 07:54 PM

Kitsapquilter 01-06-2011 08:55 PM

Oh those look too elegant to put pins in!! They are beautiful.
I think I would have to get pins with the pearl heads on them to use in those.

alaskasunshine 01-06-2011 09:05 PM

Elegant and classy! The idea of using just pearl headed pins sounds like a perfect pair.

Lockeb 01-07-2011 02:28 PM

sewmein....
The pattern is an original of mine and is for sell in the buy and sell section.....it is a part of my RUNNER-OF-THE-MONTH program..this is February's "A TIME FOR LOVE"....

kim_s 01-07-2011 03:00 PM

Those are way cool. Love the fabric!!!!! It's so funny because if you didn't have the pins in them I would have sworn they were decorative pillows! Nice job!!!!

Lockeb 01-07-2011 04:11 PM

I do have a bigger piece of the fabric that I am wondering if perhaps I would make myself a decorative pillow...funny that you would say that.... :-)

twixbar 01-07-2011 04:14 PM

They are beautiful. Do ever sell them?

Lockeb 01-07-2011 04:17 PM

Thanks Twixbar...
I am planning on eventually selling these..I have another color or so to make up - then will perhaps make them available....

KathyKat 01-07-2011 04:18 PM
