I have watched so many heartbreaking images in Japan, especially of the childre. This little girl is my tribute to the wonderful brave people in that country. It is fusible applique and is not quilted yet.

Beautiful!!! Is the face painted on the fabric or perhaps you used flesh tone fabric and highlighted it somehow? I really love the expression.

cindy4857 11-12-2011 09:18 AM

what a wonderful work of art! how did you create her so life like? Absolutely beautiful.

cuppi duke 11-12-2011 09:18 AM

No it isn't painted, it is applique. I hand dyed the fabric in 5 shades of flesh tone and then used fusible applique. Thank you for the compliment.

nativetexan 11-13-2011 09:17 AM

that is a lovely tribute!! so many citizens have said they do not want to move back to their homes (if still there) due to the radiation. i don't blame them. but that then makes over crowding in other places (like Houston after the hurricane a few yrs ago). so sad. nuclear power plants must be closed down and alternate ways found for power.

amma 11-13-2011 12:31 PM

WOW!!! You are so talented! Your work is stunning and so life like :) :) :)

cuppi duke 11-13-2011 01:27 PM

I totally agree with you about abolishing nucleur power but most people would not be willing to pay more for their electricity, unfortunately. There has to be a better way that isn't so dangerous to the environment.
