Congratulations!

very nice machine.
Oh wow you did score. A friend of mine was looking for one and ended up paying a lot more without all the extras.
wow how nice!!!
I have been looking since 2011, it's been sitting in a basement laundry room for 30 years- untouched. Her last service was in 1987, her first real owner died in 1988.
Lots of time spent Sunday cleaning with Simple Green, tooth picks, cotton swabs. Oiled her on Saturday at the first visit, oiled her again Sunday and again today -she is incredibly quiet compared to my Singer 15-91 or even my 2003 Pfaff. I think I am really going to love her... |
She looks like she fits perfectly in your sewing table. I love my Bernina 1530.
Ooops, she came in the cabinet too. The cabinet/machine combo is heavy and just plain awkward, getting it into the condo was not fun.
Wow what a deal you got! The feet alone are worth that much! Congrats!
What a deal! Enjoy your lovely machine.
So happy for you! I love my 1080, call it my work horse. Have had fewer problems with my Bernina 1080 than any other machine I have ever owned, but wish I had one with the stitch regulator. That would be my dream machine.
Lucky duck! I'll bet you have lots of fun with your treasure.

the feet alone were worth the price

What a great find! That's the exact same machine I learnt to sew on (my mom's), and I never wanted another one! I have yet to come across another machine that does such regular stitching and has so few tension problems! (or maybe it's me? Every time I sew on some other machine someone lends me, I encounter tons of problems!)
I remember how at about age 20, I tried to persuade my mom to buy a new machine ("they come with bells and whistles! You will love it!") My mom just laughed because she knew my motive (mom buys new machine = daughter gets her old one) and didn't want the bells and whistles either! One day, this machine will be mine - and it already is to some degree as I had it on "long-term loan" for the whole past year until I moved my stuff to my parents' last week. Enjoy it! |
Wow! I haven't seen one for less than $800 and that one only had a couple feet.

What a find, indeed!
Congrats! Love a great find. How I felt about my 401 for the same price.
Congratulations. BrendaK
Great deal!! I have my Mother's and I love it! They are tough babies! My Mother would have worn out a lesser machine!
You sure did score! Just finding one in such great condition is amazing, and the price is just icing on the cake! I have an 830... and it's actually the third one I've owned. I went through two motors on my first one! Bought and sold a second one, and I don't even remember where I bought the one I have now. I've been sewing on these since they were new-- the early 70's. They are the BEST machines!!
This machine was the first I began FMQ on, before I even knew there was a name for FMQ. It can do it all. |
A steal!! How lucky you were, a great find! I've bought (and sold) several of these over the years, but never at this price.

ok--I'm just green with envy right now! Good for you make a nice "home" for this beauty! P.s. what a stash of bobbins, too!
Yes, I was incredibly lucky, the ad was only 5 hours old, I was the first person to reply. The sellers knew it was a top of the line machine back in the day... They were not even sure it was a working machine, a little bit of oil and she is off and running!!
Congrats! What a deal.
I look and look and look and look but I never find a deal like that! Congratulations and enjoy!!
QuiltMom2- If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all, this is a FIRST!!! It was a huge stroke of luck!!
The seller was wanting $200 or best offer and took the $150. Now to get over the sticker shock of accessories!! |
Lucky you - I sewed on mine ALL the time between 1976 and 2008. Now she's my spare and I still love her. Burned out her motor in 1998, but hubby found a replacement for me, since the factory had burned. ( At least that's what the sources told us.) And I still sewed on. SO Enjoy that baby! and you have a lucky find.
Thank you all!!
I have that machine and bought it new. I love it and it is still going strong. No major repairs except I had to replace a gear about 6 months ago. I have done upholstery and vinyl and all my kids clothes and many more things on it and it has been a stupendous machine. I would love to find another so you are one blessed person. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine.

Congratulations on a great buy!
Best deal I have ever heard of for an 830 machine! Most people would pay that just for the feet. Enjoy!
How fortunate for you. I hope you "love it to death".
Nice machine love the Berninas.
Now that is a score. These are such good machines. You will enjoy it for years. Congratulations.
Congratulations on your great score. You indeed got a great bargain.
Wow!! Lucky find.
Great find! Enjoy that vintage beauty.
Congratulations! Wonderful find!
WELL DONE! I used these machines when I worked in a theater/dance department costume shop at a college! They are the real meaning of the word 'workhorse'! I hope you love using it as much or more than I did!
