My two newest quilts, new ideas on how to use half square triangles
2 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
One of my other groups started a Bucket List. Two of the quilts on the list were a Bargello and Delectable Mountains. I started cutting up half square triangles to do a Delectable Mountains and came up with two different quilts. They are both made using cut up half square triangles. My Delectable Stars just won a third place ribbon at my guild quilt show. This is the first quilt I have entered in a show and I was pretty happy. I may never enter a quilt with a black background in a show again as it took forever to get most of the lint off of it. The other I am calling Delectable Bargello. I was originally going to call this one "Remembering Paducah" since I made it with fabric I bought at Hancocks of Paducah when DH and I went to Paducah a couple of years ago. Let me know what you think. I could use a little cheering up. My darling dog Casey died this past Wednesday. He was 13 and had declining health so it was expected. He was such a sweetheart. The bargello looks very retro!
|
Wow! Two gorgeous quilts! They're so different from one another but both equally stunning! I love them! Great job!!!
|
Oh my, those are awesome!
|
So sorry to hear about Casey. It's so hard when we lose our beloved companion.
Love both the quilts. I love bright colors on black. The bargello is outstanding. I've never seen it arranged that way before--absolutely great. |
Your quilts are great! Sorry for the loss of your Casey.
|
These are stunning. I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I grieve when one of my passes very much. Bless you.
|
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Casey. When a doctor I know lost his dog, he took a few days off work and then when he was back at work he had tears in his eyes all day; he said it was like losing one of his children - don't let anyone tell you that "it's only a dog".
I love the way you used the colors in your quilts. |
very interesting
|
Stunning, especially the Delectable Stars on black.
|
Great quilts! Sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved pet. I know what you mean about the black background. I am finishing up a quilt right now that is more black than anything else. I have an all white cat (see avatar) and 2 shepherds that shed something terrible. I will be gifting it next Friday. As soon as I get the binding on it and it is washed and dried, it will go into a bag without ever leaving the laundry room and then will go to the garage until we leave Friday morning for Michigan!

So sorry about Casey. Bless your heart. Love your quilts, the black background really pops that fabric!
|
I love your quilts they are both just beautiful. The black may be hard to care for but I really love it. So sorry about your sweet dog, having lost a few that were in the family for a long time I know how hard it is to be without them. I still miss each one.
|
Both quilts are magnificent, those starts just pop! Nice job, and it's fun to get a prize for all your hard work. Many condolences on the loss of your loved pet. They give us so much pleasure and no matter how old they are it's hard to send them to the Rainbow Bridge. They hold our hearts, that's for sure. I hope that eventually you'll take another dog into your life.

Both are beautiful, but the stars really call out to me. Wonderful, wonderful quilts.
|
Very pretty! Sorry to hear about your pet. So hard when we lose them.
|
Sorry to hear about losing you special friend. It's hard we lost ours in 2002 and our son got another one just as cute. Love the quilts, would like to get the pattern for the bargello. PM me if you can give it out. Thanks in advance. Barb

So sorry about your fur baby Casey. I know pets are like children. My DH and I are both allergic to any animals and don't have any but a lot of family and friends do. I love all animals.
As for your quilts...wow! The colors are so exciting! I love how black makes colors just "pop". Looking forward to seeing more of your creativity. Debbie |
I love how those stars seem to have a woven center - very interesting and lovely quilt. My sympathy at the loss of your beloved dog. We had our puppy for 16-1/2 years and we still miss him.

Wow! Wonderful quilts!

I love both quilts! I don't have a favorite. Would love it if you could share the pattern or do a tute on it--may help distract you from the sadness I know you feel for your dog.

Wow How did you do that bargello? Just took a class on easy stripping bargello but not happy with results-not the best choice of fabric. The brights on your first quilt look like ribbon Great job on both!!!
|
Oh my goodness, both are gorgeous but that Bargello!!! wonderful. so sorry to hear you lost your furry friend. Remember the good times.
|
Gorgeous I love the first, really pops with the black background.
Sorry you lost your beloved Casey. You need a new dog to help you through this horrible time. It never gets easier, I have lost lots of cats and dogs over the years. |
Both are very nice quilts.
|
It's never easy to lose a beloved pet, especially one who has been a member of the family for so long.
Your quilts are gorgeous and I want to thank you for making your patterns available to us all. I've just explored your website and downloaded three of your baby quilt patterns which I will make this month for a grandson who is due in September and I'm sure I'll be keeping an eye on your inspirational work from now on. Thank you again. I hope you will soon be able to remember Casey with smiles rather than tears. Hugsx |
Both are very good, but the stars on black just stands out so vibrantly.
