This quilt is awesome. could you tell us a little about it, what size is the finished block and what size were your strips for the log cabin? And did you do all the applique with the blanket stitch after you turned in under or is this all the stitching you did to hold them down. I hope I/m not being too nosy but as I say this quilt is magnificent

Hi Buzy Lizzy Thanks for the compliment. This is actaully a UFO quilt that I just finally had Shelley quilt. I did it in 2008.
So I'll see what I can remember. The log cabin strips were
2 1/2" strips. I believe the blocks were 18 1/2" Unfinished.
Shelley still has it or I'd measure to be sure.
I was trying my hand at doing the turn applique method but was not very successfull so I changed to just the buttonhole stitch. I have some embellisments to put on it yet so as soon I get it back I'll be adding some beads and buttons to some of the flowers. So its still going to be a WIP.
And don't worry your not being nosy at all. Let me know if you have anymore questions about .
Thanks again. And Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful compliments.

That is an awesome quilt! I was sad that log cabin dry goods closed too...I haven't gone to check out the new set up (there is suppose to be a little bit of fabric)...

Bobbinwinder 02-22-2010 03:13 PM

Beautiful Quilt! Your top didn't seem to mind waiting at all! This one really shows what can happen when the right longarmer gets to work on the right top...MAGIC comes to mind as the word to describe this collaboration. Well done, Ladies! Hat's off to both of you!

Yeah that was a sad day to see Pam leave. I loved it there.
I have not been to the new place yet either.

dglvr 02-22-2010 11:19 PM

Busy Lizzy, I lied they were 2" strips for the log cabin pattern.
Sorry about that. :|

OMG I'm jumping up and down. That is a knock-out quilt. Is there a pattern for it or is it your own design. You did a wonderful job on it, too. It's beautiful....I'm gushing all over the place.

QuiltQtrs 02-18-2011 08:32 AM

Truly a work of art... both your applique and Shelly's quilting.
Is she listed on Long Arm quilters board? Would love to contact her.

I'm on here, but not listed as one of the quilters for hire. One of the rules is that we have to be a 'Regular' here. I have found it hard, for ME, to post enough to be on the list.

If you want me to quilt for you, please send a PM and I'll return the messages in the evenings or mornings, before and after work!! Thanks!

Katrine 02-18-2011 10:18 AM

Thanks for the kind words of my quilt. Yes I actually met Shelley from this board when I noticed she didn't live to far from me. Lucky me. You can look her up under Shelley.
She's awesome. Thanks again.

Now there is an heirloom to fight over. Since I'm sure you don't want your kids to tear eachother apart, you could send it directly to me and avoid all the fuss. FANTASTIC quilt!
