What a great idea! I'd never thought of using old sheets for beach quilts, but it totally works. That's also a good cheap way to practice FMQing.

Those make great utility quilts. My mom's cousin taught me to sew and she used sheets frequently for backings. Her other go to for backings was just plain old muslin. It was very economical for her. She always was on a very tight budget. Tell the quilt police to go fly a kite.
