My weekend top (AKA, not babysitting!)
1 Attachment(s)
I really don't have much experience putting tops together, aside from the parrot quilts that I make that are extremely time consuming as each of the 42 squares have many itsy bitsy tiny pieces. So when I found this board, I wanted to learn to do other things, different patterns...
I learned how to sew at a very young age, Dad worked for Singer, so I got free lessons, but never really did anything other than making the girls some dresses when they were small. I made this for my sister's 50th birthday this week-end. Provided this "matches" her living room (I'll know today) I will piece a back using some sort of print & plain blocks so that we can have people at the party sign it with a fabric marker. It is an over sized lappie as she is almost 6' tall. |
Very pretty! I like the fabric combination.
stunning fabrics you used, it makes the pattern extra beautiful!!!
rut roh, I meant to put this in pictures! Sorry! :O
Love the pattern and fabrics. What is the name of the pattern or did you design your own?
It is a disappointing 9 patch usingusing 3 fabrics, the boarders were a boarder fabric ;)

For your signature blocks on the back be sure and provide Permanent fabric markers. Also you might not want to add the back to the quilt prior to signing because fabric shifts when you try to write on it.
It is usually recommended to iron the fabric to freezer paper prior to signing to make them more stable. also if you do pre-cut blocks - I suggest putting quarter inch tape around the edges to prevent people from signing in the seam allowance. Or if you want to piece the back first (but NOT attached to the top, you could iron freezer paper to the entire back (paper would be in peices). |

This is absolutely beautiful.....
She will love it.

Strange! When I saw Berkie's "disappointing", I actually read "disappearing". Then when I read the other posts, I was wondering where they got that from, and had to go back and read the post again. Sometimes my eyes play tricks on me. I read what I thought it said because I knew the pattern.
But I really love the quilt and the borders, too. |
Very lovely .. Thanks for sharing !
Your fabric choices in that quilt are spot on. What a warm wonderful gift. Your sister will love it.
Very pretty!!!
Really nice colors!
When I read "disappointing" instead of "disappearing" 9 patch and "boarders" instead of "borders" I had a good laugh. The quilt is not disappointing and it certainly doesn't have any boarders, but does have borders. Isn't the English language confusing? Like to, two, and to. Why isn't height and right spelled in the same way? Just slays me (or is it sleighs) LOL.
The quilt is awesome. |
Your quilt is very pretty. I love your colors and fabric, and I like what you are going to do on the back.
Nice choice of colors. They blend together beautifully. Lucky sister.

That is very pretty!!!
