Terrific find!

hairquilt 09-18-2011 06:23 AM

Katieranch is right, I would rather not know someone thought so little of my quilt!

carrot 09-18-2011 06:36 AM

Score :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

luvstoquilt 09-18-2011 07:05 AM

So happy you found it and will love it. That lovely quilt deserves a good home!

sarahconner 09-18-2011 07:08 AM

I think it is neat. It always makes my day when I find something cool

Tippy 09-18-2011 07:08 AM

That is why I like to "decorate" my house in an eclectic manner.. EVERYTHING goes with it!! I would never dream of saying.. it's the "wrong color".. it's not the wrong color.. it's scrappy!!!

auniqueview 09-18-2011 07:10 AM

Makes you wonder if any of these people ever went out to buy a quilt? If they have any idea what they cost? I have a couple in my closet that are practically rags, and they aren't going in a yard sale.

I would love for people to make quilts for me. My grandmother died before she got a chance to.

ChildoftheUniverse 09-18-2011 07:15 AM

You were meant to find it and love it... raspberries to the ungrateful recipient...

GramaLaura 09-18-2011 07:27 AM

Lucky find!! :-D

Phyl 09-18-2011 07:40 AM

I haven't made a quilt for anyone unless they have BEGGED for it!!! People who don't know what goes into making a quilt are MUCH happier with a gift certificate, it's a LOT less work for me, and that becomes a win-win situation rather than an over worked, disappointed me and a disappointed gift getter. Lessons learned without the need for my heartbreak. THE SUN SHINES in simple lessons learned!

Some people just don't get it and they are generally people who have never done any type of crafts or art. The trick is to know to whom you should give your quilts to.

mimee4 09-18-2011 08:44 AM

Not the right colors???? Urrrr.

grannypat7925 09-18-2011 10:08 AM

What a bargain! Very nice quilt!

MargeD 09-18-2011 10:37 AM

Congrats on your find, too bad the original recipient couldn't appreciate all the hard work that went in to the quilt.

Tweety2911 09-18-2011 01:01 PM

Lovely, great find!

wraez 09-18-2011 01:48 PM

So glad that you got it and delighted to find it. So sad that the receiver didn't appreciate it, hope the quilter doesn't find out.

arimuse 09-18-2011 02:05 PM

look on the up side - someone let their love go out to the universe, and never mind who they gave it to, it ended up where it was supposed to be

This makes me think it should be in a summer cabin somewhere, even better, a cabin on a lake - it just looks so homey and soft; something for a little chill off the water at night, when you sit out and watch the sun set. sharet

Grandma Peg 09-18-2011 03:19 PM

Very nice find. Some people just don't get it do they?

Quiltinelaine 09-18-2011 03:39 PM

Very nice quilt for you and I'm happy you made the rescue::: I don't understand that someone would say I want to get rid of this gift because I don't like the color: This person doesn't realize that more than the color of the fabric, goes into a Quilt:

The Quiet Quilter 09-18-2011 04:03 PM

What a great find. How picky
can some people be?? Glad to
see it found a good home.
Hugs, Sharon

There is no such thing as "wrong colors" for a quilt in my opinion. Who says everything has to match ? I enjoy each one for what it is, and I would never not keep something someone gave me. What a shame it wasn't valued for the love that was put into it.

Scrap Happy 09-18-2011 04:16 PM

WOW! Great find. It's beautiful. I'm glad it is in a home where it will be appreciated.

rslindiana 09-18-2011 04:41 PM

So happy that she found a good home with you. Really cute quilt!

4EVERquilt 09-18-2011 05:05 PM

I think it's a really beautiful quilt top.

Nettie Phillips 09-18-2011 05:30 PM

Oh my goodness. I can't believe someone would do that with
something someone took the time to hand make for them.

Robin57 09-18-2011 05:55 PM

Wow what a great find! Don't they know that quilts go with EVERYTHING!!!!!

Dee 09-18-2011 06:57 PM

Very pretty. Now it has a good home and appreciated.

mountain deb 09-18-2011 07:14 PM

I am glad it found a good home.

lindy 09-18-2011 07:32 PM

Great find!

Margie 09-18-2011 07:42 PM

Even if you dont like the colors, it could be used as picnic tablecloth, emergency quilt in the car, on the floor for little ones. There are many ways to enjoy quilts that dont involve decorating around them or changing your colors IMO. That is sad but glad you rescued it.

mrs. fitz 09-18-2011 07:58 PM

Sometimes I just don't understand people. Glad you found the pretty quilt and will give it a good home.

judyyoungs 09-18-2011 08:21 PM

Oh my, how can they not be the right colors when they are all there? That is just so sad.

dsews2 09-18-2011 10:02 PM

I AGREE WITH JUDYYOUNGS......ALL THE COLORS ARE THERE SO HOW COULD SHE SAY IT WASN'T THE RIGHT COLOR.....
LOTS OF WORK PUT INTO THAT QUILT.

And such a ♥break for the maker.

Wouldn't you just love to be able to find that person and give it back to her?

Oh my goodness ...... just thought about this ...... wouldn't it be amazing if that person were to be posting here on the Board and could say, I made that!!!!!!!!! :)

If I were the maker, I don't think I would want to know someone (I thought enough of to make a quilt) would sell it and let alone for $15.

I am glad someone has it that appreciates the work that went into it.

Enjoy,
Angie

misseva 09-19-2011 07:15 AM

I've NEVER seen a quilt the wrong color for me. I'd take it in a heartbeat and treasure it for ever.

cctx. 09-19-2011 07:18 AM

Awesome find, beautiful quilt.

auniqueview 09-19-2011 07:50 AM

You have to wonder about some people. I have four dogs that have more sense than the person who sold that quilt. I have a quilt laying on my couch now. It has tears in it, because it is old, not the best job of sewing, and I don't know who made it, because I bought it at a roadside store. But it is cozy, comforting, and my doxies love when I put it over them, too. Even Taffy, my giant moth who loves to chew blankies, would never think of putting a tooth to it.

You found a treasure.

Thank you, my Yorkie love to lay one my quilt when I cover up at night to watch TV and to me he's my family so he can cuddle on my quilts as well.
