Me too! I don't understand that no one in the family wanted it? Oh well, at least it is in an appreciative place right now.

babeyruth 08-07-2011 06:36 AM

Ditto! No way would I sell somethning that a family member made, all ther work!

bobbie1 08-07-2011 07:29 AM

Lucky find for you but so sad relatives dispose of such treasures!

Margie 08-07-2011 07:31 AM

GREAT FIND!

hudgoddess 08-07-2011 08:21 AM

I just got a hand pieced, appliques, quilted quilt as part of a lot at an auction. I guess we shouldn't kid ourselves. If we make things that stand up to the generations, they'll outlive the people who loved them.
I personally plan to leave at least 100 quilts for people to discover at yard sales 100 years from now!

maryb119 08-07-2011 08:23 AM

Its a beautiful quilt and I am so glad it found a home where it will be appreciated! Lucky you for such a great find.

OmaForFour 08-07-2011 08:58 AM

Absolutely gorgeous! That is a real treasure! Don't know how anyone could part with it let alone for $2!

Suz 08-07-2011 09:14 AM

Another quilt rescued. Yeah! I too cannot understand how someone could part with a treasure like that.

kathyd 08-07-2011 11:15 AM

Too bad she didn't want to keep "grandma's quilt"! Lucky you though, looks like a great find and a great price to boot.

Ditter43 08-07-2011 11:31 AM

sewnbug 08-07-2011 12:26 PM

Love the colors. I would hate to see one of my grandmother'sd quilts sold for $2.

Lynneander 08-07-2011 01:00 PM

What an incredible treasure!

MargeD 08-07-2011 01:41 PM

Congratulations on an amazing find, too bad the seller didn't know the true value of the quilt, but I'm sure her grandmother would be glad it found a good home where it will be loved and cared for. I wish I had a quilt that my mother had made, but sadly, they were well used and didn't survive. I do have 2 pillowcases that she embroidered and I cherish those.

jojosnana 08-07-2011 02:02 PM

I am glad you are giving it a loving home.

dragonflyxlx 08-07-2011 02:04 PM

I agree. I wouldn't think of parting with any of the quilts my grandmothers made, I really treasure them.

What a treasure :D:D:D

jgriinke 08-09-2011 02:55 PM

Good for you. Enjoy it!

hpylady 08-09-2011 09:32 PM

Most everyone's comment is about the same: How could she part with her Grandmothers quilt? I would not in any way, form or fashion depart with my dear Grandmothers quilt she made. I would be "sadlady" if my children, grandchildren, sister or brothers parted with the quilts I made for them. They know that too!

I always say: If you have to get rid of one on my quilts, I hope it goes to a family member that will cherish it, if not, I hope it goes to someone like this dear lady (a quilter) that got it from the yard sale. A quilter knows all the love, labor and thought that goes in a quilt.

QBeth 08-17-2011 12:55 PM

People just don't know what they have, do they?! Glad it's now going home with someone who will appreciate it. :-)

DonnaB 08-24-2011 10:26 PM
