I found this last weekend.....Paid $5.00 for it! It has one block missing, and some of the seams are frayed a bit. I can see it was made from old clothing, some of the seams from the clothes are visible in the blocks. I will enjoy mending this top and making it into a usable quilt!

Very nice! Good thing you rescued it. Wish I could find things like that.

Very nice! I really like the way they laid out the blocks.

What a bargain! It reminds me of one my GM made - I think of mine as an old fashion I Spy. Have fun repairing.

I say it's a very lucky quilt to have been adopted by someone who will give it a lot of TLC. Does it have a label telling about it and the maker on the back? Enjoy your wonderful treasure.

grannyoquilting 03-11-2011 12:14 PM

Stitchnripper 03-11-2011 04:20 PM

It's my favorite kind of quilt and I wish it could tell it's story. All those old clothes have been around, don't you think?

No label...it's just the top!

sassy granny 03-11-2011 05:34 PM

That's very pretty Ditter. My son lives in DB Fl. and he bought a quilt top at an estate sale for 50 cents that looks a lot like that one. It's made out of polyester scraps (remember when we wore dresses made out of that) and he brought it to me the last time he came home for a visit. It is a little heavy and I don't know exactly what to do with it. I think I'll get a nice piece of flannel and tie it and give it to the homeless shelter. I don't need it. It's too heavy for batting. It smelled musty and I had to wash it. It washed real well.

kajaza 03-11-2011 05:38 PM

quiltgrammyt2 03-11-2011 08:36 PM

Great find and a great deal

soniboo 03-11-2011 08:40 PM

Someone spent a lot of time on all those blocks and you sure got your $$$'s worth on it. Yay for you & enjoy your mending! :D

Granny Coy 03-11-2011 08:52 PM

It looks like the designer started with the block in the center and kept adding frame after frame around the outside from that spot. Is it actually quilted or is it just a quilt top? I don't see any quilting stitches but they might just not show in the photo. In any case it is a find.
