Looks like a great space for both of you!

WOW! I'm speechless. I need to show that photo to my husband so he can understand that I have so much more to purchase before I'm a qualified to be called a true quilter. :-) Enjoy your stash.

wraez 08-24-2011 10:19 AM

Love it that you and hubby share a passion for quilting ... and addiction to stash!

Iggys Mom 08-24-2011 10:22 AM

Ill bet you know where everything is so long as no one moves anything. Happy quilting.

dphelps 08-24-2011 10:35 AM

Do I spy a Viking (Lily 545?)in there? I have one and just love it?

QM 08-24-2011 10:51 AM

That is obviously a joyful place.

Katts 14 08-24-2011 11:07 AM

That's my kind of room you do have some fabric together the BIRD FABRIC!! LOL

Marilynsue 08-24-2011 11:09 AM

Kinda looks like home to me! I like it there.

Iggys Mom 08-24-2011 11:15 AM

You've got L O T S of stuff............

vmhlake 08-24-2011 11:28 AM

I would go nuts, I am kind of anal about neatness, except when I am in progress of working on a quilt....but so neat that you and your husband do this together! Whatever works is the best way to think about it...

grannyQ 08-24-2011 11:43 AM

QNS, it's nice to see where you sew and all the stash you have. It's been quite a journey to sew with you in the Farmers Wife Quilt group. Have loved to see your blocks each wednesday. Hope to see your finished quilt. grannyQ.

Now I don't feel so bad. I have so much, I have GOT to get it organied better. I do have a lot in bins, but my scraps are over-running my life, and I can't seem to make enough tops using my scraps. They just seem to multiply without cutting anymore fabric. You go girl....keep sewing!

Ms Grace 08-24-2011 11:54 AM

Can I come shopping in your stash???

You have a huge selection of stuff.

Hmmm.. I'm on the look out for Cardinials.

Forgot to ask you a question about that 8th photo .... the one that shows where your DH works. Is that wire kind of thing that comes up behind the machine and goes above it then goes back down behind an added on gizmo for raising the presser foot? I think I see the pedal on the floor under the desk too. I have one of these if it is (maybe called a Universal something or other?) and used it for a number of years on my old singer (which has since died) until I got a used Bernina that has the knee lift.. Looks like your DH rigged up some wooden arms to make it work better. I'd forgotten about this gizmo and need to get it back out to put on a Singer 99K in a cabinet that I am currently using for paper piecing.

Neat you can share this with your hubby.

MargeD 08-24-2011 02:17 PM

There is something to be said for a well loved quilting room that is used often and well. Looks pretty good to me, mine has looked worse.

Lucy90 08-24-2011 03:03 PM

OMG!!

quilt gramma 08-24-2011 03:08 PM

Nice stash and i am guilty of being a organized freak as i can not stand stuff out of place. I would have a hayday in your room - i think i spend more time organizing than sewing ...lol but we each do our own thing . I can see you are well stocked up on your stash - would love all that ...

ube quilting 08-24-2011 03:11 PM

More power to you!

Lisa Marie 08-24-2011 04:16 PM

I think that is great you and your hubby quilt together...but I think you both could use more space and bigger tables...

marmarkl 08-24-2011 05:31 PM

Love your sewing room, reminds me of home.

QuiltingNinaSue 08-24-2011 06:14 PM

No, I do not know what dh has made-up behind his machine; hard to tell because he invents things that work for him. He helps me cut out pieces for quilts because he has two eyes, and I have one that sees. I just turn my blind eye toward the worse mess.

He also makes his own kilts to wear since we retired 'cause the others on internet is too expensive.

I have spend a number of years building up my stash before we retired...in Corpus Christi and the four LQS there. DH said, its your choice when we move to retire: all your kitchen food stuff or your sewing stash. You can see what my choice was.

Here in retirement in North Central Missouri, I have a new friend who loves to quilt, has a stash much bigger than mine, and is willing to take me along on her once a year road trips to acquire new materials. She also knows more about quilting than I do, and is willing to teach me. (She loves my home cooking)

Lucky you. I dont have a sewing room. I sew out of my bedroom.

debcavan 08-24-2011 06:18 PM

That is cool that you and your husband sew together

Thank you for your response!
Enjoy your stash and sew with your husband! Is the dream of many of us!
A big hug for you and your husband!

craftynell 08-24-2011 07:16 PM

Looks like my room.

Linda1 08-24-2011 07:24 PM

I love it that you and your husband share a love of sewing. Your sewing room looks a lot like mine but my stash is not that large.

QuiltingNinaSue 08-25-2011 10:53 AM

GV09, I ask my dh and he said it lifted up the needle & presser foot so his hands were free.

Yes, dh machine is called Lily.

Thanks for all your kind words everyone; I love the phrase "much loved room". We don't always sew together, he does his thing, while I do mine. Or he will do other things during the summer and sew with me, if he feels like it, in the winter months. He has his bedroom where he can make all the noise he wants too, and I have mine that is filled with books and its a "QUIET Zone".

It is called a "peace retirement" time in our lives.

Iggys Mom 08-25-2011 12:06 PM

I love your discription of retirement. Sure sounds right to me.

ging10ging 08-25-2011 05:22 PM

My stash looks sick compared to yours. I would love to have it but it must be overwhelming at times. It's nice you & your hubby sew. Have fun. Sue

Now that looks more like my kind of room...and I bet you know exactly where everything is too! LOL

chamby 08-26-2011 01:45 PM

Wow, where do you have room to sew?

QuiltingNinaSue 08-26-2011 04:07 PM

Please refer to picture one. Sewing machine, Bernina, ironing board and cutting table and big desk chair.

Yes, I do know what is there, but find myself pausing, thinking about the hereafter....I am here, now what the heck did I come here after???

memereof8 08-31-2011 07:49 AM

I bet you are like me. Dread going into the room to look for a certain fabric. Can spend a whole day and still not find it. And we know it is there!
