Navy Quilt for My Son completed

First off all I would like to thank everyone for their help with putting this together. I have had fun making this, but there are a lot of things I would do different. It was suppose to be a wall hanging; but turned out king size. Hope the pictures come through. I am now making the label and am lost for words. I will name it "From Sea to Shining Sea Tour." The label will read: "To Raymond & April, Thank you for your service to America. Thanks for your courage and dedication." I will have an embroidery eagle on the label. What do you think?

I think you did an outstanding job! I like how you put all his postings around and the photos are super. I am sure it will have pride of place wherever he travels to next.

Your quilt look like something I would expect to see hanging in a Naval museum teaching us the history of the navy. I'm trying to say that it is an outstanding tribute to your son. I'm sure the quilt is destined to be a family heirloom. I think you did a fabulous job on it.

That is the best Navy or any other military quilt I've seen. I think it is a wonderful tribute to your son, and I ,too can see it being past down and treasured by many generations. The label will be perfect; just like the rest of the quilt. Please thank your son for me for his service to our great country.

fxsts93kf 07-15-2012 07:07 PM

I have been watching your progress with this quilt and it turned out amazing! Just use your heart with your label as you did with your quilt and it will be fine. As the mother of a Marine, please thank him and his wife for their many years of service!

Sewfine, You did a wonderful job on your sons quilt. Where did you find the Navy fabric? My daughter is an Industrial Hygienist (Safety Officer) and I would love to make her something with it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

debcavan 07-16-2012 04:23 AM

This is such a treasure that you have created.

Navy Quilt Label

Just at the end of making the label, I was trying to kill a fly and bent my embroidery foot. I had to attach a small label with my name on it and hand embroidery the date on it. What a bummer. Hope it looks ok. Thanks to all for your wonderful comments.

Sewfine 07-16-2012 07:13 AM

Though the embroidery design was a bald eagle with his wings spreaded inside of a star. Someone in my office just told me it is a jalapeno pepper. Oh well, I think of some bright idea as to why a pepper is on the label.

caquiltingdeb 07-16-2012 08:42 AM

Just wonderful. Thank your son for his service from me!

Thank you. It was given to me a couple of years ago, but hobby lobby carries it. I also seen it on one of the shops on the fabshophop. Can't remember which one.

I love your quilt! Thanks to your son for his service.

My dh is retired Navy. I've often thought about making a quilt for my dh and love the way you added photos, names of places he was stationed or visited. Lots of great ideas. Thanks for sharing your delightful and inspiring quilt.
